This edition38 vs club polo thing is pretty lame. If you don't like their forum and don't want to adhere to their rules then don't use it. I do find that edition 38 is a little clinical and not very friendly but there is some interesting/helpful stuff on there not least of all the for sale section.

This forum has a nice vibe to it and it is good that having the occasional laugh is tolerated. The flip side to this is i do find that these days a lot of topics are lacking in any substance and just seem to be a group of people (often the same people) blabbering about bullshit. Which is a shame.

A mixture of staying on topic and having the occasional laugh/friendly banter when the time is right would be excellent. Just something that would impossible as it would be a full time job to moderate and control.

Still think it is whack that you got banned for a picture of a cat in some sunglasses. That is pretty gay.

i've not seen the thread no tony. i avoid the bar in there, everyones too highly strung.

i used to frequent the forum alot, mainly in the mk1 golf section, giving people advise and buying and selling bits, made some good mates off there, but its never been a forum i used for general chit chat, or a forum i have a particular allegence too.

people seem obsessed with getting replies on there, like its some kind of kudos status. most people get hundreds of posts because they are all very good mates, so obviously have in jokes and all post on each others build threads, much like we have our own banter on here.

the technical knowledge is high amongst some, but they dont really tolerate noobs who dont do thier research and instead of telling them they are a dick, they just dont reply. here we have a vast wealth of knowledge in the FAQ and everyone is willing to chip in and help others out which is good.

and when you have a heavily frequented forum, its easier to ban for a short time period than to warn, as it really gets the message through.
