Yet more fun to be had - http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/421769/2886977.aspx#2886977 :?

I won't lie I do kinda miss owning a really simple car at times! Seems to have sorted itself though so will just see how it goes, strut braces next to go on, along with my US venture :D

Does sound like an Ignition problem, I would agree with what they've said on that forum and say coilpack. Is it a wasted spark system by any chance?

You know, it's weird it hasn't happened again since and there have been no fault codes, I can't help but wonder if the standing water had anything to do with it, although I really can't see how that could've effected the ignition system. The o2 sensor maybe, but that's it.

I really don't know to be honest, there's no Haynes manual for this engine and the Bentley manual I have is written for the US market and they got different engine specs out there. I'll have a read up on the ignition system this evening and get back to you

This same engine found its way into a few audis too i think....:ninja:

Got bored and searched through Haynes: the 2.8 VR6 24v isn't covered in the books for any of the cars which have it. Not even in the Sharan...:(

Bit of moisture could've caused it, my old polo used to misfire like a fucker when it was cold if it had been raining heavily.

Yeah I'm convinced it was water, hasn't happened again since

Indeed, I'm stuck with my US Bentley manual, trouble is it only covers two engine codes, a 12v (AFP) and a 24v (BDF), but it's not the same 24v as mine as it has seperate coil packs, so it's a case of flicking between both

I've got a copy of Elsawin too I should really get familiar with.. if only I could remember the password to login to it :|

As for updates, nothing new to report, absolutely destroyed a civic earlier only for him to then nearly go into the side of me.. that was fun :disgust:

We'll see..

Went to the PureKlas meet in Cov last night, ended up coming home wanting to spend soo much money on the 4mo, proper got the modding bug back!

My insurance is due in June and I'm a little anxious as to what it's going to be, would like to get something that'll be a bit more welcoming to modifications but I'm not sure how willing anyone'll be to insure me with this car, I swapped my current policy from the polo to this so have no idea how much the year premium is gonna be, got a figure in mind but no idea if it's anywhere near

I really need to have a nosey around a v6 TT to work out how many of the parts are interchangeable :ninja:

polo 1.4 8v to a saxo VTR 1.6 8v they wanted 60 quid a month extra to swap

new policy was 10 quid cheaper.

swapping 1 car to a new one is never cheaper so dont base it on that :) lovely car though

Yeah I know, just gotta wait till late June to see, hopefully 21 + 4 years NCB will help make it more bareable!

I only had 3 months left on the policy and admiral charged me about what I was paying for a whole year on the polo just to swap the golf onto the policy for the last 3 months

Cheers :) I must admit I miss the nimble handling of the polo, need to get my finger out and get this properly braced, polybushed and on lower profile tyres and then it should be reet

Get yer roll centre down! :p

Well yeah, I thought that was a given

Thinking eibach pros on either vw sports dampers (cheapest option as I already have these..) / R32 dampers / uprated bilsteins.

It feels horrible going round a corner at speed at the moment, the sidewall flex is horrendous and ready doesn't aid confidence!

Sorry , my latent dorset accent came out a bit :p

You should have tried the 195/65 ditchfinders that came on my car !!!! Christ it was like cornering in a blancmange

But what about my predibs'ed fogs :p ? They'd be cool tbh, twintakes and make up some pipery to get a 2-to-1 BMC or summat like that?

  • Author

Well lett me know when you come to sell the fogs and we'll see, but twintakes sounds good :D

Angel halo twintakes too much ?

Perhaps.. Maybe I should just go the whole hog and get some F1 style diffusers!

Now have a dremel and power drill so can get cracking with fitment of a few things :)

I do love a good bit of dremeling

Hopefully go better than the stanley knife shenanigans :ninja:
