Where?! :crybaby:

I'm fairly happy with it considering my power drill was pretty much out of battery, I had a pack of 10 self tappers (needed a lot more..) from homebase and my bench was the front garden

Well I can finally get the front end up now! Much success!

The success stopped there though, I went to fit my yellow powerflex dogbone bush only to find out that 16mm is the only size not featured in my wonder Teng set so I had a little tantrum and fitted the foglights, courtesy of dirt_monkey

Ignore the shiny silver screw heads, they're going black soon. Or I might rip the entire bumper off and try to retain the fogs from behind somehow.

So..

It's been a while.. there hasn't been much in the way of progress, have put some more miles on her and she hasn't been washed for a few months so is looking somewhat unloved and abused right now, but I'm back home for a few weeks so hopefully this will change!

The plan for the holiday is as follows

New wishbone bushes and dogbone up front

Finally wire in the sidemarkers - still not sure how best to do this but I'm thinking splicing into the sidelights and maybe fit some inline switches if I ever want them off

Build up a loom for the lower front fogs and get them working, went to maplin today but they didn't have any 12v relays [:@]

Finally, the mother of all washes, and if I can justify it, a rear spoiler!

Wanted to get the 23mm ARB to chassis bushes and drop link bushes too, but I think that's enough money spent on myself in the week before Christmas [:o]

After a very successful scrapyard trip and the pillaging of a couple of passats this happened..

I also made up a little switch unit with some parts I had left over from an old audio install, tempted to wire the markers to an ignition live and mount the switch box somewhere near the steering column, either that or splice into the sidelight wiring at either end and make up a second box and just hide them inside the bumpers... Need to have a think, anyway, PICTURES!

And not a single squeak was given.. :p

Dogbone tomorrow, if I remember I'm getting before and after videos showing the EPIC TORQUE reaction going on, yo.

Must say I've started to notice a difference with the new dogbone, definitely feels a lot more punchy when giving it the beans, especially lifting the clutch after a gear change [H]

So today I regressed to the mental state of an 8 year old and got out the sharpies!

Sod paying £99 for a new knob..

Did you just colour in the 4motion letters? I really want a go at machining a new gear knob next time i've got some lathe time to spare!

  • Author

Yeah they had majorly faded, I really want to get a black 4motion one to finally rid myself of the walnut but just can't justify the cost at all...

Tempted to do the same, lathe access is plentiful but cnc time is limited, hence not getting any further with the knee braces!

Most people seem to get them from ebay.com, as did I, shipping was pretty cheap all things considered!

Apologies for the dire photo, couldn't grab a fast prime and still don't have a tripod - enjoy the ISO noise [:p]
