Future plans

- Black Badges

- Tinted Windows

- Pressed Plates

- Exhaust, maybe.

- Bonnet Bra, maybe but i've heard they scratch the bodywork?

has anyone got any recommendations to get any of these.

nice car, not sure what i think of the wheels but they are differentt (Y) :D

the wheels were already on when i bought it. i like them though they look nice when cleaned well.

in the future i want some new ones but i haven't got the money to be spending on some atm.

Imo the wheels are horrible. Wouldn't be so bad all black. Its the red lip makes me heave! Standard silver would be best.. Un-chav it hah.

Aside from them it looks a wicked example. I'm liking the interior.. :)

And yes bonnet bras do more bad than good.. They scratch the hell out of the paintwork..

And I regret getting my exhaust. They attract too much attention (the bad kind) and its annoying on the motorway

like i said they were already on when i bought it and i have other things that i need my money for. anyways i quite like the wheels so I'm in no rush to get any others.

only 64k miles as well. the interior had just be re-leathered before i got it.

think i'll give the bra a miss then. would a straight through exhaust increase performance ? I'm not arsed about the noise lol

get some centre caps for the wheels! i think it would look much better with them

I have just got some new badges for it. can anyone tell me the best way to remove them and fit the others? i dont want to go to town on them with a screwdriver... i have tried finding a thread with it but i cant...

i haven't done much to it: wheel caps, wind deflectors, re-trimmed the grill. Also Alpine touch screen headunit, Alpine 6x9s, Alpine twin subs and amps.

going to get a K&N filter, are they worth it?

pics to follow soon...

Looking like a nice start! Wheels imo aren't too bad to be honest

And de-badging is pretty quick and easy. All you need is a hair drier (Or heat gun if your fancy) and some fishing wire, along with a bit of WD-40 to get off the glue underneath

Heat up the edges of the badge but not too much that your damaging the paint! Once it's warm enough the glue behind the badges will go soft so pull the string slowly through and peel them off. Use a bit of WD-40 or similar to get off the underneath glue off.

I done mine in around 15-20 mins.

Good luck!

thanks a lot thats great help!

the wheels are something that I'm not that fussed on changing, i would like some new wheels but i dont fancy paying the £xxx's. thinking about putting some spacers on though.. i have heard they ruin your bearings? is this true?

They can after a while yes as you've essentially extended the axle but kept the same bearings

. Maybe just put them on when you need/want but for normal driving leave them off, although I do like them a lot

How do i get the front badge out the Grill ? I'm a real novice when it comes to cars........

Have you removed the grill first? As far as I remember, the grill needs to come out before you can get to the badge.

yeh i have removed the grill.

on fitting new badges on the back, whats the best way to keep them in line and equally spaced ?

so i was driving down a country lane, when two cars passed. the first one got extremely close, the second car smashed straight into my wing mirrow. i thought he was going to take me out completely. we then stopped to exchange details, only for him to be a 6 foot roid head only with intentions to kick the shit out of me, with a skanky missus whos dirty sunbed abused skin resembled a leather handbag from a turkish beach. he chased me round my car then punched my drivers window as i jumped in my car. he jumped in his car then chased me up the lane and round a few junctions. i managed to lose him.

they're too similar to the ones i have. i want something with a dish, maybe silver. borbet, bbs, etc, etc....

Did you get the police involved?

  • Author

i hate to say it but i did. our town is small and if i seen him again he would have definitely recognised me. I'm not sure if he is a local bouncer in the pubs so i didnt fancy getting filled in if i seen him about. still to hear from the police. they sounded as if they wanted him though as they pushed me for an official statement and knew who he was straight away

What a nightmare! Glad you and the car are ok! Hope they get him! I think GTis attract loons. I have only had mine a few days and dealt with some right hair raising experiences! I am like driving miss dais tat the moment as I just don't want the conflict!

With regards to bonnet bras, I have just put one on my GTi and have one on my T5. I don't think they scratch the paint, you just need to make sure you rinse the bonnet down before cleaning and obviously after you have removed the bra as grit can rest inside it, but they protect from a lot of stone chips and flys etc! Also, flying rubbish tossed from other cars! I would get one if I was you. eBay is best bet and there is a German company who are reasonably priced and they fit the best!

Hi there. Car looks like a good example mate, keep it up . unfortunately there are some real assholes out there. I had a similar experience with some prick in a van, car didn't make contact but he shouted abuse and went to get out to confront me but I couldn't be assed with it and drove off.

My advice is the same as what I do myself, if you like your car with what you want on it then f**k what others think if they want to be harsh. I get comments from ignorants and take no notice. I love my car the way it is and if I want black red or pink wheels then I'll bloody well have them.

With the window and mirror it might be a fuse or a more common fault a broken wire in the rubber boot in the hinge area. Pull the boot back from the body side and check the wires. Careful not to break any clips. It can be a pain to remove. If not check for corroded connections.

Hope that helps ☺
