I've completed it, but personally i think its poor questionairre design.

you have a question which requires two answers, but one option is none of the above?!

solidity although a word, is not commonly used, i had to check the definition as i though it was made up, build quality would have been far better.

the questions are very closed too, and dont allow for a good enough cross-section of results. all questionairres should have other answers which allow users to input data. Its not quantifiable in the same way as closed questions, but gives you a far more accurate representation of the opinions of your questionairre subjects.

thanks everybody! the amount of results I've got so far is awesome for my reseach so thanks very much! I'm doing the shift from modernism to post modernism, sounds dull as hell but its proving quite interesting so far, and print DEFINETLY wins :)

Oh and the lemon ad is something vw did to advertise the beetle in the 1950's, didnt think many people would know it but thought id throw it in there anyway.

Lol I replied no to that despite the fact that literally 5 mins later I did a blog write up on Bill Bernbach. Didn't realise it was called the lemon ad, mainly due to the fact that he's done a few others to go with it.

Also, does anyone remember the Polo ads from the early 80's where Jeff Capes picked up each end of one to look underneath?

The best VW advert I hvae seen is the viral ad showinga car bomb going off inside a Polo which remains intact and no-one notices! I think the slogan was 'Small but Tough'.

i'm not old enough to remember them (born 1991) but saw the ads on t'internet and i love the way jeff just drops it on the ground, personally for me its the ad when a beetle is driving into a lake. oh did the survey a couple of days ago too

Yes, thats the one! The story behind it is a bit confused, but it appears to have been made by an advsertising team called Lee and Dan, who sent it to Volkswagen's advertising agency Doyle Dane Bernbach as a bit of self-promotion. Somehow it got out!!!

VW pretended to be very cross and threatened to sue the creators for damaging the company's reputation. 'Volkswagen do not condone terrorism' said the company. i can't find any record of such action being taken though.

Although the advert could be considered to be bad taste, I personally think it is a brilliant piece and I don't think it did VW any damage at all.
