6N polo wishbones

I Fitted a new pair of front wishbones on my sons 99 1.4 CL today,however when he took it out of the garage for a test run we noticed that the wheels had horrendous positive toe out !!!! after doing some measurements I found that the new wishbones were around 10mm longer,,, I phoned the internet company that supplied them and they said that they had a shorter set in stock. Has anyone come accross this problem before??
