ABS Sensor - 99 V reg polo - are left & right side different

This may sound silly but are the left and right hand side rear ABS sensors different? The reason I ask is that the metal strips that are in the sensor if you look closely stick out more one side than the other.

So if you fit the sensor to the right hand wheel they are on the lower side and close to the bearing actuator (read funny speed grooves). If the sensor is on the left the metal strips are on the top of the sensor and further away from the bearing actuator.
