France banning the Burka....

Featured Replies

On the subject of wearing them whilst driving, I'm not calling for the ban, but just had a random thought, Truvelo cameras usually catch the driver's face right?...

I realise the obvious response is motorcyclists - like I said I'm not saying it should be made illegal, just wondered if the image of the face from a Truvelo is actually used at all in making prosecutions or can be used, I'm guessing no but it's food for thought.. I mean, what happens if someone has both arms up in the air waving like a lunatic as it takes the photo - is this grounds for adding driving without due care on to the speeding ticket or is it just automated? Okay we're going off topic here, my apologies!

^ I watched that programme when it was on at first...

The feeling i got from it was that converts to any religon

not just Islamists, are over zealous in their approach to

their new religon...like they have something to prove.

The guy this film is about calls his own brother "kuffar"

which is a discriminatory term against "unbelievers",

"disbelievers" or "non-believers" in the Islamic faith and refuses

to shake any "kuffar" with his right hand, his clean hand, instead

he uses his left hand, his dirty hand, the one he uses to wipe his arse.

france have banned the burka btw it was done a week or two ago from what I'm told so with france banning the burka and the aussies kicking the undesirables out why cant our shit stabbing government do something about the haters here

Because Britain are too busy rimlicking America and we wont do anything unless they do it. Exactly the same with the problems in Libya, America stuck their fucking oar (sp) in when it wasnt anything to do with them and now we are. Wonderful.

one of those cameras had me speeding.. We said it was my mum driving so my insurance wouldn't go up even more and they sent a photo clearing showing my face when I was driving. The camera was about 300ft odd down the road. Bloody brilliant cameras..

Fair play to them. I'm beginning to like France

They can play the card on us yet when we do it back it causes an outrage,

Golliwogs for example.. Fuck off is it racist.

And the nursery rhyme 'Baa baa black sheep' has been banned in nurserys and shit because its racist?

I'm not racist, but things like that piss me off so much! Soon we wont be able to use the word black anywhere! they will stop painting things black, tarmac will go pink. Black cars will be banned.

Next time someone calls me white I'm ringing the police, as i deem it as been racist....

Edit again

Done some reading and they scrapped the idea of banning it. but still the fact that there were people that wanted it banning in the 1st place? Jesus Christ.

Tell me about it!!

Things are so fucked up these days I can't even say "black paint" any more. Instead it has to be "please paint the wall Leroy".

Actually just laughed out loud at work! haha!

what the hell are you all talking about?!? There's no law against wearing balaclavas, helmets, scarves etc... in this country. There's a big difference between being politely asked to not wear something and being arrested for wearing something.

It's like a fucking BNP meeting in here, disgraceful.... thank god this is in a section not publicly accessible

Look at it this way. If I walk in a bank with my motorbike helmet on, even with the full face flipped up, I'd expect to be asked to remove it, and asked to leave if I didn't, and the Police to be caleld if I didn't leave.

If I were working in a bank and someone came in wearing a Burka, I'd expect to have a complaint made against me for racism if I asked them to remove it.

I'm with B-Shaw, I was never prejudiced, I based my opinions on experience.

ok well the french wanted the ban and 11% didnt and they were outsiders and came to march and complain.

For those muslims who are french citizens they are for the legislation because they want to fit in without looking like an outsider.

Its an abberrasation and its against womens rights it equates to the chinese when they used to bind female childrens feet so they couldnt walk.

If it occured now british missionaries would be slated and stopped and prevented from doing the right thing and expressing there opinions.

This whole question is about womens rights in the west she can do what she wants when she wants equally with men.

The day men go out with a burka by there own free will that would be the only day that women would be justified wearing it aswell.

Yeah, it's about women's rights...

The women that are beaten senseless by their husbands but never report any of it because it's not against their law....

I know of people that have worked in support groups for ethnic females in the UK that suffer all kinds of abuse.. the media is making out that all women that wear burkas do so at their own will and as a sign of faith etc and that we're simply infringing on their rights, but I think you'd be very surprised to know of the amount that don't wear them for that reason..

But again, that's besides the point!

You can't wear full face coverings in certain, if not the vast majority of, public places.

It's the law of THAT country.

Read Enoch Powells "rivers of blood" speech from 1968, if the government had listened to him, this country would be a different place now

Unfortunatly what he said was said in such a way that no one needed to spin it in the slightest to make him appear a bigot. That's why extrme nationalists in this country find it so easy to latch onto. Sadly if you look beyond the bits that they like best, there was some pretty sound thinking in it, that would probably have gone a long way.

The key point in there for me is that the race relations legislation at the time was built around ideas of different ethnic groups integrating. For the most part, this doesn't happen, it's just human nature, white kids hang around together, black kids hang around together, asian kids hang around together, because it's what they see their parents do. This breeds animosity between races, which causes hatred, violence, and a desire to exploit each other, and that's a lot of what made this mess.

Just to add, as a member of site staff, I'm glad we can have this discussion in a mature way.

In terms of the big picture though, maybe I'm a bit of a Nationalist..

I'm not a big fan of this multiculturalism..

I mean I'm not saying Britain is and should be a white country, far from it..

But no-one can deny that the countries identity is being blurred.

When I go on holiday to Spain for example, I like to eat in traditional Spanish restaurants, not eat chicken and chips in a cafe owned by a bloke called Dave..

Ahh, but without Multiculturalism whos going to serve & cook (in the broadest sense of the word) your Donner Kebab after a night out

i haven't read the whole thread so this might of been said

if i was to travel to a Muslim country i would abide by the rules they set, meaning no kissing in public in some countries and covering up where required.

As far as I'm aware it is illegal in some/if not all Muslim countries for Christians to build or repair churches yet in Britain and other majority Christian countries we allow all people to openly practice their religions and rightly so however if these interfere or create division in our society maybe there should be restrictions only problem i as its been allowed for this period of time how do you implement such actions without alienating or aggravating groups of people

might add some more after work :-D
