Doesn't matter about projectors, there's loads of standard cars with Xenons in reflector type lenses. Certain Renaults, Hondas, Mercs etc

yep. the refraction pattern is on the reflector, but the reflector is specifically designed for it, hence why it doesnt work on mk2 saxo's and certain other clear glass type lamps.

Why would they wind them up a bit? It's not something you'll be able to swap it'll be a "you have 7 days to present your car at an MOT station with the above defects rectified, here's your £60 fine and 3 points" offence same as illegal plates i'd imagine.

From January 1st 2012 it will be illegal to use or sell any aftermarket HID kit

It's not rocket science ffs. It was a grey area, now they've cleared the grey area by banning them. Easy.

still like i was told by the coppers in my area (durham and sunderland) hid kits are the least of their worries.

Had post reported. No issue seen.

Currently everything is based on hearsay and scepticism so until there is some solid and definable paperwork on what this law will actually cover I think this thread has run its course

For most coppers it will become one of those "I'm having a bad week, so I'm going to fuck someone else's up" type law, same as pressed plates (unless of course your lights are 6k+ and stand out a mile or dazzle passing aircraft).

So lets all chill, sit back and see what other laws they can make up to stop car modifying.

as of February 31st 2012 wheels are also being banned from cars and any one buying or selling them will be treated in the same was as some one buying/selling drugs, the bigger the wheels the harsher the punishment.
