naa nothing bud.. collecting engine soon as higgos ready.. will be slow as I'm looking for alock up to store car away whilst i do work etc . :)

Good luck with the lock-up, took me ages to find somewhere. Ended up with something about the size of a double garage £110 a month inc rates etc.

  • Author

Cant afford that lol .. 20-30 quid for a lock up a month

If i could find something like that who wanted to go halves etc i would :)

Rite quick update.

Havnt drove it alot atm ..

Found my self a garage/unit for 90 quid a week, comes with a free flat too ;) .. The way missus see's it as a flat, with a garage.. i dissagree ;) lol

Fitting rear bilstiens some time this week, there off a 6n bought them a mate for cheap. There PSS9's which from research are rather good, Got the fronts too but may be adapting these to suite the mk1 golf hub.

Been stripped and regreased and cleaned up . Get some pics when i cba ..

Look good. They look like they should go straight on tbh,

Get some pics up of the front and we'll see what we can do about getting them onto the relvant hubs etc.

Do you know the spring rates etc?

Looking good Jamie - coilovers do you need some spacers making for the top/bottom to suit or are you going to have the rear slammed at full height and use washers at the bottom?

Whens it coming off the road for the 1.6 switch? :)

Using 6n rubber top mounts to space it out with a tube ..should be all good . Coming off the road in jan . Started buying tools Etc and gonna crack on with engine and few other things .. Thanks guys, always good having someone in the area of work for the suspension side of things ey nick ;).. No idea on spring rates max, don't say on them. Any way of working them out ?

Yeah it's fairly easy to be honest.

IMO easier to measure in n/mm as you need a lot less mass/force to compress the spring.

For example 50n/mm... 50 newtons of force compress the spring 1mm. So you could put scales on a press with a way of measuring length change, or put weight on it, 1kg is roughly 10n...9.47 or whatever acceleration due to gravity is.

Or put them in my spring rating machine at work lol!

When stripping my car I remembered about the rust what was behind the licence plate from someones bodge

IMAG0882_zpsecdefc7c.jpg

the boots got rust bubbling on the seal near window so bit the bullet and going to buy another boot

Thats it for now . Most prob gonna take engine out tommorow, make a start on stripping that down then Bodywork prep shall STart
