forgot to buy brake line today so had to just find something else to do. decided to strip slam panel and repaint as it's always been a little bit rusty.

laquer is tomorrows job.

also painted a couple other bits black.

stainless flexi arrived today, one step closer to an exhaust pipe.

it was in good condition, just a few bits of bubbling cropping up, i'm spraying everything candy white so far, bit creamier than alpine but i like it more.

Bought a VWII set up off captain urbis yesterday, cheers bud.

Sprayed the front valance in its final coat of candy white:

Then decided to make up a radiator cover, as mine never had a plastic one, so I made this out of ally:

then zinc primed it and sprayed it silver to match the rocker cover, might gloss black it though, haven't decided yet:

is the candy white a decent match to alpine white? been meaning to do my slam panel for a while. got a 'colour match' alpine white and it couldnt be further off lol

yeah It matches up fairly well in my opinion, I always found alpine white was 'too' white. to be honest you could paint the slam panel in general gloss white and it would still look fine.

aye kerrly, chatting to my mate last night and he said he will make me an ally tank for free if i put his company logo on my car hehe.

So this morning started with a trip to autoparts for some brake line:

I need to do from about the middle of the car right to the drums, never made brake lines before so it's gonna be a learning curve.

Cleaned up my suspension struts:

fitted VWII calipers and vented discs, not bled up yet, opinions please on whether to get braided hose?

Decided to remove the rear suspension to make it easier to fit new brake lines etc. Stupid me ended up dropping the car on my hand, if it wasn't for a luckily placed axle stand it would have taken my hand off! Needed my mate to lift the car off my wrist cos i was clamped in haha!

So, first things first, cleaned up the embarrassing mess that had gathered at the side of my car.

Made a nice bench to work on, found a cupoard to keep stuff dry, and pinned some tools to the wall, much nice environment in the unit now :)

Started fitting the new brake lines, waiting for braided hose to arrive but fitting them with the rubbers for the time being.

friggin horrible job, covered in brake fluid, seized in old steel unions that were rounding off, massive pain in the arse, only 3 more to do though for MOT!

also, smoked indicators or clear? can't decide...

I need to sort my lock up out properly. Want to put some shadow board things up on the walls etc, and run extension leads on the roof etc.

yeah little things like that help, like tonight i was sat on my bench stripping and cleaning the bike carbs, and every screwdriver, spanner, poking and prodding tools were all within arms reach, makes it a pleasure to work haha. I just need and airline and some plug sockets really.

Finally got my brake lines finished, however i found that steel brake lines are almost impossible to swage! unless its my shit tool...

Rear coilovers are back on, minus the smaller pre-compression springs, we'll see how that goes.

I tried starting her up for the first time in over 2 months, and there was no life, so stripped carbs down and pilot jets were clogged up again.

Cleaned them all down and she fired up first time with half choke.

No silencers on though so she sounds like a giant angry wasp that's just had its wasp ballsack ripped open...

and tbf i've never seen a mk2 with a rad cover, but imo it needs something there to tidy up the bay a little and hide a scatty radiator.

trial fit the exhaust today, just need centre section making, brakes bleeding up, two new tyres and then it's MOTable :)

does anybody know a decent method of cleaning seats? i want to get them looking brand new cos otherwise i'll have to make some brown leather ones

If your fitting the fan behind the rad then you should have it on pull. In front of the rad then push :)

Is that timed to 4V yeah??

i were going to say the same thing its ment to be timed up to the 4vmark if it has 4 valves per cylinder

or the 2v if it onley has 2 valves per cylinder your timeing is out

oh right! well it runs, I cant remember what i timed it up to to be honest.

surely If i have timed it up wrongly by such a degree, it would really struggle to run smoothly.

i'll have a look anyway!
