Stance

Featured Replies

It needs Glaidersite ARB blocks to bring the front wheels forward in the arches. And a notch down at the back. What's the poke & stretch like? can't realy judge your stance without seeing the poke & stretch elements.

It will look terrible because the offsets are et-7 :crybaby:

I've yet to see a well stanced mk3 on 13s, especially as most are -7. And stance is down to personal preference to a certain extent. Obviously some cars don't sit well in anyones eyes, but as said on the last page, most sit flush with arch and tyre, and also the more powerful and "usable" cars which are higher with bigger profile tyres etc. Personally these two stances are my favourite. But then there's tucked, aircooled etc which personally I don't like. There wil never be a "formula" for stance, personal preference and all that.

IMO the ops polo doesn't sit well, it's just lowered as with most polos as everyone knows there's not many cheap options for lowering. But could do with coming down all round but the fronts will be sticking out over an inch.

I realis that quickly turned into me rambling, and it's all my opinion not telling people what's wrong and right

ahhh touche! ha i almost had this off you a while ago. dont worry, I'm not going to question that hydros aren't "doing it right" etc, i think they are when they produce results like that.

but, as a whole, there aren't many that sit right

What was bottoming on that the fuel tank and exhaust?

The sump was the main issue, fuel tank was fine and the exhaust had already been cut and rewelded to make it hug the chassis, although it was still fucking close

Steve I agree that its very difficult to get a early polo to pull off 13's with having comedy ride height or big tyres, although Jon (iscariot) managed it on a static drop on his old mk3, you just have to have a lot of dedication to the cause

I swear man,I'm on here so often i need a moderator's phone number for this shit. (mod, delete this when you delete all the spam?).

Thanks for the feedback! I'm probably gonna leave it where it is for the time being, the engine conversion will likely weigh the front down a bit more, when i've seen that i'l know where the back needs to be =D

My exhaust is hanging rather a lot, about an inch off the ground where the centre section meets the backbox, whats the best (longer lasting & unpikey) method of getting it tucked right up, are there any decent points underbody to weld some extra supports/hangers to? To me the underbody doesnt look strong enough to weld anything permanently

All cars have stance, some just have a better looking stance than others.

For some, that means resting the arch on the bead seats. But for those of us who haven't completely lost the plot, and dont see the appeal of cars that look broken, its often more about purpose.

For me,i suppose its a bit like that look of a hunting animal of prey ready to pounce,or a boxer's arms up,whatever. It needs to look 'ard and ready.

It needs some tyres for this, none of this 165x50 elastic band shit,i wanna see some sidewall, even if its stretched a bit, like a 70s Le Mans race car.

And it needs to look like it can deal with mounting a kerb without smashing its bodywork to bits,or flex some useful suspension movement whilst hammering down a good B-road.

Dragging its balls as it crawls awkwardly on its knees, well that just doesn't cut it for me.

I think it looks sweet on those starmags and with that stance - i just recon 175x60s would be better than 175x50s.

Amen to that...

All this bloody 'stance' bollocks. I think it should go low enough to make it look good but once it starts scraping, raise it up or put bigger tyres on it.

For your car personally, id lower the rear down as theres a massive arch gap.

Needs to go about an inch lower all round, maybe 1.5 on the rear. Or you could fit some nice 14's and it would sit nicer without the ground clearance issues

I recon 15's are the best for stance on mk3... just nobody seems to have done it yet! Apart from 9olo but his arches are pulled to fook
