And to the OP, run it on decent 2 stroke, not the cheap shit you get in the local rundown garage, heard a fair few horror stories (not with the dt just 2 strokes in general).

yeah 2 strokes need to be looked after, if not they'll eat through piston rings like nobody's business. i know a lad that had a DTR, he blow it up and after rebuilding it he forgot to unblock and reconnect the 2 stroke feed pipe, needless to say it needed another rebuild very quickly

but that obviously wasn't the bikes fault, they ain't bad and go ok, no doubt with a bit of pissing about with the power valves and a decent exhaust they would go even better. that's one thing the 2 strokes have over 4, it's much easier to get a bit more poke out of them, although generally speaking they don't tend to last as long when tuned

I never trusted those auto lube things, always premixed, and after a while you can rebuild them with your eyes shut and the smile factor is waaay better than a 4 stroke, as long as there run in good and warmed up properly they can last, sometimes
