Hi guy's, bought my 1990 Breadvan two weeks ago now. Got around 99k on the clock with all the major engine bits and bobs done, used to belong to a guy called JonXP on here (I think thats his username). Good fella, thanks for the help!

Fairly tidy, had rust on the arches touched up a bit in the wrong colour so got some work to do. First day I got it I chucked some alloys on I 'borrowed' off a mate as the current steelies were illegal but turns out I'm going to buy them off him now but haven't had a chance to fit the front alloys yet as I've been away from work (work at a garage). Here's how it looked when I first got it, this was on the drive home with a friend. Car's pretty much standard when I collected it apart from the sound system.

Weekend just gone I fitted a sub, again borrowed the sub itself off a mate but got a 8" JL audio with a custom made box going in soon hopefully, sub's running off my Genesis amp (anyone who knows this brand will know the quality, highly recommend). Oh and just to give a heads up, I'm a big fan of GOOD car audio so this will be brought into the project at some point, as we all know, no front speakers is rubbishhhh.

Also took out the Sony headunit and put in a Pioneer unit with rear AUX and USB, cables are messy at the moment but will be doing some sort of custom iPod holder with hidden cables ect. Has Sony 6x9's at the moment too which came with the car think I'll be putting my JBL's in for now and then at some point put in a non cut shelf and replace factory speakers.

Also full on washed the car, polish, glass cleaned, interior cleaned, vac'ed, the lot! She shine's up well!

And that's how it stands at the moment till I get home again this weekend.

Few plan's but alot of things are still floating around in my head, want to tidy it up first and get it all working as little things such as passenger window aren't working (cables snapped I found out this weekend).

So keep tuned and I'm sure there will be some updates soon, if photo's aren't good enough, sorry its my iPhone (but it is an iPhone 4!).

Always But yeah got 3 alloys at the moment 4th is still on my mates old car, keep bugging him to get it off so hopefully be ready for me on friday to sort out on Saturday. More pictures to come, and considering I'm mega bored away at a hotel I might go on a eBay session, never good!

looking good best colour for a bready

Hey guys, a few updates. Been really busy recently so haven't even been on the computer since my last post!

Got lots of goodies in the post, new white LED interior light, small touch but every little helps! Bought a boss for my new steering wheel, sadly i didnt realise I've got the big spline so couldnt fit that in the end. New window seals, as mine where ruined... parcel shelf sorted as it was hanging..

Got four alloys on now, done that today so that looks alot better! Tidied the wires, still got some stuff to do with that but I'll wait for a rainy day.. managed to find a replacement aerial off a Golf MK2 I found at the scrap yard so once I get some time I shall fit that, I was going to put an electric aerial in but freebies are so much better!

Clear indicators all round, again, little touches make such a difference! Also dewipered it, got some Golf MK1 clocks off eBay, so will be fitting them too once I have some free time, rev counter!

Apart from that, nothing major yet, just enjoying being on the road again to be honest, but once things cool down I need to tidy some of the body work up and refurb the wheels, oh and get some wider tyres! Ended up in a ditch the other day due to a corner and slippery roads, 145/80/13's just dont cut it! Luckily no damage done!

Also went to the South coast Polo meet last Sunday, picture of a few including mine!

Someone rolled my car onto it's side at the weekend and made a bit of a mess so work will be on hold for now till I get the body work sorted a bit.. Sigh..

Yeah, bit pathetic and OTT, it's a 'mate' and because I'm now seeing his ex, couldn't just talk to me rather take a step too far.. Oh well, got some money's today so going to look at sorting it.. Filler, paint, new door and a new wing mirror! Anyone got these bits let me know.. Taaaaa!

Not really no :( nevermind.. Been driving the car ally recently and realised that 145/80/13 are hitting the arches on bumps! What the heck! :/ hoping to do a coolant flush this weekend although at the moment I'm round the girlfriends so motivation is low! Also anyone going to south coast polo's tomorrow will see the damage :(

Hi guys, some more updates from the last week or so.

Started with giving the car a damn good wash and polish with the missus ready for the south coast polo meet on Sunday, some quick shots on my phone just after a washed it.

Soon after went back to a mates house who seems to collect alot of polo stuff! So grabbed a ton of bits off him, new window mech for passenger side, new lights as mine were cracked, new seats (loving them!!), new rear bumper, new black uncut parcel shelf and a new wing mirror as mine was ripped off after the car was rolled over.. here's a few pictures of whats been going on, not all the stuffs been fitted yet but you get the idea.. you can also see the damage from the rolling incident :(

Mirror needs some cleaning up which will come soon as well as rear bumper.. she's coming along nicely though, want to crack on really this summer and do some body work, especially as my drivers side isnt looking the prettiest :(

Also chucked some stickers on the rear side window as well as red striped the grill, only a quick job for now to test it out, not too bad i thought!

Thats all for now as far as i can remember, some more interior stuff will be started very soon! As well as some better and unique car audio! But that shall be kept a surprise

Best colour that splitter of am mk2 golf?

I'd say you got off really lightly with the driver's side, it doesn't look that bad at all. Lovely clean machine too, nice to see one treated so well.

I think the splitter is yes, i didnt fit it though so dont know sorry! Thats twice you said best colour! Haha, hmm if you see it in person its worse than the pictures... dents along the whole side, not just the door and various parts of paint flaking off now and wing is pushed in so couldnt open door... but it could have been worse, yes.. body work will have to be sorted this summer i guess, few scabs coming through too, nothing major yet though I'm just fussy! And when i read that it made me proud! Someone noticed! I do look after her best i can to be fair...

also small updates, this weekend done coolant flush, should of got a new expansion tank really, damn it.. dont like old mouldy one even if i did try wash it out! Put a black parcel shelf in, so no 6x9's :) hate parcels shelfs butchered :/ so running some kenwoods in the standard places but have got a few idea's kicking about for the sound system but wont have that sorted for a while, will try make a start next weekend possibly... photo's to come :) getting fed up of borrowing a massive pile of crap sub! taking up all my boot and sounds awful! Going on a mini road trip this week so hopefully the old babe will live on

oh yeah also got the horn working off the steering wheel, score! seems the last owner put his own button in for no reason? everything worked fine as soon as i wired it back up?.. maybe he pushed it too often! Haha..

What did you use to create the red stripes on the grille? Also, I don't know how, but this car suits it's tall stance on after-market wheels.

cheers mate :) stripes are done with strips of red tape, easily available on the e of bay for a few quid, its 4mm.. but what i would say is if you want to do it for good, spray it.. the tape aint great, ok from distance but up close... And weirdly enough i was thinking that yesterday! It is strange, but sadly drives like a pile of poop, so it will be lowered in the future with uprated bushes and strut braces... not slamming it though, although all my mates annoyingly say "you have to, its a vw"... NO your wrong! but anyway.. thats for another day haha! I dont really know what the wheels are off to be fair, my mate who used to have a bready bought them off a mate, put them on his, then sold to my other mate which went on a clio mk1 williams rep, and now on mine! They need a refurb bad though.. anyone got any idea's on a colour?...

oh also anyone got a rear bench matching my new fronts? happy to swap my full set of old ones (will clean them, mint condition apart from dirt!!) for just a matching rear bench? or will pay dollar for em :)

So cars been tidied up for now, dodgy messy new mirror is clean and super glued back together, side strip is held on for now and I have a full set of these!

For future reference, these are genesis door cards out of a mk2f, they rears do not fit straight into a breadvan, the middle pillar is wider than coupes and was a pain in the ass! Needs some tidying up where I cut it now, only done one side as it was annoying me... Also if anyone has door handles out of a mk2f please let me know! Also need a new plastic cover for the drivers side middle pillar as mines cracked and I took a saw to it :(..

Also started cleaning the engine bay, very long job.. So doing it bit by bit for now..
