Car will be in primer before the end of the week, ready for a splash of colour next Monday.

Great choice of wheels for the car (got a set on mine) just be careful when getting the centres done as powder coat reacts differently with the centres and caps giving colour differentiation, which i found out to my cost, would paint them.

Also dishes are hard to come buy too, if you need any or want to go wider, custom made was how i got mine, through mike.

Thanks for the advice on powder coating the centres!

There's a company in the Midlands that can make wider custom dishes, I'm going to pay them a visit next week and hopefully get them made, and get the centres painted aswell

Roll on Saturday, at long last I shall finally get the mk1 back from the painters

Why can't we use photobucket to down load photo's any more??

It should still work? but if like me for some reason and your using Explorer on Win 7 it doesn't seem to accept anything being pasted into the reply box, but if you try it with "Chrome or Firefox" then it works fine ????

Yes I am using explorer, I usually use google chrome but as of late for some reason it's really slow, I'll give it a go!!

At least I now know it's not just me who cant get it to work!

The paintwork looks amazing, as it is, so after the flat & polish should be fantastic

I had a couple of other jobs done before the car was painted.
Rear towing eye cut off and welded over....

Radio arial in passenger wing welded up





I'm not going to run the car with mudflaps so had the fixing holes welded up!

I rolled the arches with an arch roller a couple of years ago, but because of the curvature of the arch it only gets rolled under around 4 inches either side of centre, when I used to reverse off the drive the tyres used to catch the arch lip and bend it outwards slightly.





The arch lip has now been panel beaten all the way around the arch, will give plenty of clearance now:D

And finally had the lower front and rear panel, and both sills subtly factory stone chipped.

And finally in paint

Managed to keep the original stickers.

And at home today.

Now the rebuild begins.

Time for Master Mechanic D.Higgins to get stuck in This is the part I have been looking forward to.

Would you mind telling me what brand of Stonechip you used, and how it was applied? I'm about to go through the same process with mine (on the underside) and my plan was; Strip, rust treat, etch prime, stone chip and then 2k topcoat.

I don't have anywhere to spray 2k so the primer and topcoat are gonna be brush on. This doesn't bother me as it's gonna be textured anyway. I could probably get away with a Schutz gun for the stonechip, is that what you used?

Hi mate, I used Upol Gravitex stone chip using a schultz gun, and I also brushed on the 2k topcoat, because of the textured finish it looks as though its been sprayed on anyway!!

That's exactly what I wanted to hear! Because yours looks great and I have nowhere to spray 2k.
