howd you get the foamy protective stuff off the panel thats normally under the heater ect?

Do you mean the stuff the fixed the heater to the bulkhead?

Or the sound deadening that's directly under the heater across the lower part of the bulkhead which is covered with the carpet?

Hey Kiz, yeah, sanded down all the welds and etch primed. Will leave the filling for a week or two when it hopefully will be a little warmer!

mate - that rust is so little on a car 10 years old never mind 36!!!! my G40 had a lot more problems than this so i wouldnt get to upset. its going to be absolutely amazing!!!

:biggrin: I know, I'm not upset mate, just letting folks know that even well protected cars are not immune from rust!!

A couple of coats of Jenolite, and etch primer should keep it at bay for another 36yrs

Had half a tin of brush-able red oxide left over, so thought I'd use it up.

you only have to worry about rust when a mk1 polo floor looks like this , after this photo i got in the car and ended up thru the floor she was to far gone to repair and is now scrapped :(
