Thanks Max, my body filling and sanding skills aren't very good, so I'm not expecting the finished bay to be that good to be honest!

I'm running out of patience now and tending to rush things a little, I'll just be happy to see it in paint. :-)

If you rush it you'll regret it, take your time you know it'll be worth it in the end!!

I did too when i got to this stage, the only advice i can give is do not move onto the next stage untill YOU or happy with it.

Otherwise it'll bite you in the ass, and you'll always regret not getting things spot on.

Kinda know the feeling you seem to have, you'll end up doing it twice if you rush cause it'll slowly get to you

When I finally finish the bodyfiller in the bay, there's gonna be a lot of bare metal and filler! Iv'e read that you can't use etch primer as it will react and lift the filler!

So what primer would i apply onto the filler and bare metal? once the first coat of primer is on i shall then use high build.

No Dan! filler is applied to bare metal, if you apply it to etch it will start to lift off, thats what I'm led to believe!

always put filler on bare metal which is well keyed. you really should just be using etch primer as a treatment to bare metal which you wont filler or prepare and just put paint over the top.

dependant on what you buy my advice would be to use an epoxy primer which you can key for filler. not all are like this but a good automotive refinishing supply store will be able to sort you out with what your trying to do.

etch is acid based an will eat filler whether its applied on top or under. you shouldnt put etch over any existing paint either as that will lift off.

you could cheat like i did and sand the whole bay to bare metal and spray it with reface, then once you have got areas done you could expoxy it bit by bit until your ready to do one big prep and primer.

i can lend you my reface gun if needed

I have applied the filler onto bare metal!

My question is when I have finished the filling and sanding, what primer do I use to then cover the bare metal and filler as a first coat??

just use normal 2k primer - i always have - never once had an issue in over 10years

this is what i use - and have done 90% or my G40 using it!!!

Managed to get a couple of coats of stonechip on the underside this afternoon.

Next, put the jig onto the passenger side, flip it over and give it another 2 coats.
