It took a while - but my Polo Estate Dog Guard is now sold.

I have a polo loon 6k, I guess the holes in the trim at the back of the car either side of the parcel shelf are for this purpose. But, how and why would you put a dog on the shelf? any ideas if it is for this reason, has always bugged me what they are for. The plastic trim is different to the estate so its not just a case of vw having just the one part. the holes look like something clips in (rectangular), the shelf cant be removed as its solid metal underneath the carpet and the area wouldnt be accessible if there was a guard in place, seems weird. Hopefully you may be able to shed some light on this... if not, oh well... it will just have to continually bug me.

Hummm, could be useful for me, we have got a little dog now thats got a bit too big to be hauled about inside the car.

Leaving the photos posted (for a while) in case they are of interest to anyone.

The first 3 photos are of MY dog guard - as installed in the car - as this is probably what you need to see. They show how it fits properly - taking up minimal space - and yet securely fastened - and allowing use of the roller blind at the same time - you won't get any of those features from an "aftermarket guard".

1st is looking into the boot - with the roller blind in place - but rolled back. We tuck the "flap" back up behind the lower bar - you don't have to do that - but it avoids our dog keep banging her head on the edge of it.

2nd is also looking into the boot - but this time with the roller blind taken out.

In both of the above photos - you can't see the bottom few inches of the dog-guard - because I also have a genuine boot liner tray installed (and then a tatty bit of pink carpet inside that).

3rd photo is looking back at the dog guard - from sat in the front passenger seat. Sorry this picture is so dark - but my stupid camera doesn't let you "force" flash to operate - and on "auto" it thinks I am trying to take a nice picture of what is outside the windows.

4th photo is the part number label.
