I bought the car last year from a friend's father who moved to Prague 7 years ago. He bought the car in 1995 and I am the 3rd owner. It has a fully stamped service book up to 82K and 2003, a year before he moved away. I also have all MOTs and receipts detailing all that was done in his ownership. After he moved away the car was kept in his sister's garage, warm and dry. The clock now reads just over 90,000 miles. Not bad for a car registered in May 1990.

Since I have had it I have serviced the brakes (which were brand new at a cost of £257) and given the car a coolant and oil change using top quality stuff. The spark plugs are also brand new Bosch Supers. I have also cleaned it inside and out and replaced all the parts of trim which were missing or damaged (including A pillar trims) I have also fitted brand new front shock absorbers as these were leaking It has also had a brand new downpipe (£90 plus fitting) and a new CV boot as both had pinholes in them. I have also had replaced some of the rear brake lines, they weren’t MOT failures but were slightly corroded so I wanted them to be right. The engine bay has been cleaned and tidied a little. One brand new tyre has been fitted, as the other was perished slightly. 3 of the 4 front lights have been replaced as the originals had chips. I have also fitted a 90 amp Bosch Alternator to give it more power with the electric roof. Overall I have spent over £500, and everything has been done to the highest standard. Inside all the arches are nice and clean, as is the engine bay. Gear changes feel nice and tight too and MFA works recording an average of 40 mpg.

On the outside there is no rust bar one scab on the front panel. The bonnet has a scratch and the bumpers both have a scuff but nothing major. The paint is in excellent condition and shines well as you can see in the pictures. All the original stonechip guards and seals between the body and clipper kit are in mint condition. The wheels have had a light refurb as the laquer was all peeling off. They are fitted with VW locking wheel nuts, and the original centre caps and wheel bolt covers. Everything on the car is original (including the stereo) except a Philips alarm and Immobilser which protects from break ins to doors, roof and under bonnet. It is very loud!

Inside the light grey cloth interior is in excellent condition with no wear to the seat bolsters. Everything works and the glovebox locks with the original key. (of which there are 2)

The electric roof works perfectly and the handles lock into position easily. The original dark blue tonneau cover is with the car too. The car does not leak at all, I have cleaned the roof with a special cleaner and resealed it, water just beads off instead of being absorbed as with some. It is slightly faded but has no tears or holes and all the trim is present and in excellent condition.

Overall, the car has been looked after and I have spent quite a bit of time and money getting it up to scratch since it's time in the lady's garage. To make it perfect I planned to get the bonnet and bumpers resprayed next month, which would cost around £200-300. I planned to take it to some shows this year but my other convertible's engine needs a rebuild so I have decided to sell it to put towards that. I hope it will go to a good home, would be a shame for such an original car not to.

With the bonnet and bumpers painted (which would make it truly immaculate) I would be asking around 2800, so I am looking for £2200 ONO as it is. I have seen a lot of higher mileage and messed with cars/part finished projects for sale at around 2500. The MOT is a full 12 months, there is no tax but I am willing to drive you to tax it should you buy it.
