I'll declare it! That's why I've not fitted them yet I'm waiting until I can afford the insurance bump

If you say you are fitting coilovers then I am sure you can go as low as they take you. Making sure they ar'nt cut in anyway! As of for a inspection on a crash, if the car is declared on coilovers and NOT just springs then you should be ok no matter how low you go. I recomend trying around on your renewal for cheaper quotes with mods. Try recommended insurers for modified cars ie admiral, sky, Adrian flux. Best of luck with the insurers.

admiral arent a specialist modified car insurer? otherwise they wouldnt have a fit if you say your cars lower than 50mm

True but they do, do quite good quotes when mods are declared. Wich is unusual.

I'll call back sometime this week and not specify height and just say I'm fitting them and see what they say.

I would look at specialist mod insurers but they don't tend to save much unless you're over a certain age. Also I'm on an admiral multicar which brought my insurance down about £1400 compared to all my other quotes so it's the cheapest I can

I wont cut them either don't worry, wanna keep the spring warranty and not run the danger of having them. I did get offered the same springs I have but used for £130 but I decided against it as they had been cut

It's getting dropped Saturday - provided I can declare mods on my insurance mid way through a claim. I'm also buying some spacers to space out the rear wheels 20mm

oh and just a few other little bits and pieces

Fitted some 5000K bulbs today so it looks a bit prettier at night. Didn't bother with the fogs even though I have the bulbs seeing as they're tinted yellow already, don't want green fogs haha. Also my spacers arrived so they'll be going on along with the coilies on Saturday

Couple of updates from today, I changed my indicator bulbs from the original orange ones to some chrome ones (not the best initial picture and I don't have a post one I'll get one tomorrow) definitely cleaned up the headlights a bit. Fitted my stubby aerial as well, doesn't fit as snugly as I'd have liked but it looks a lot cleaner. I also took a couple of photos of my new headlight bulbs at night.

Anyway after this I decided I'd fit my spacers, I got the first one on on the left wheel and took a before and after picture. Was pleased with the result however I went to remove my right wheel and as it had previously been put on with an air gun so I couldn't get them off with my wrench. There's a tyre place close by to me so I started driving to it and I heard a clicking/ticking noise coming from the wheel with the spacer so I took it back tightened them up and it still had the same issue. Since it sounded like my wheel was going to fall off I decided to take the spacer off. I looked online and the only explanation I could find was that maybe the screws are too long and need to be filed down a bit.

I wanted to get some other opinions on this before I file it and void being able to return them, what does everyone think?

Finally it's sitting on coilovers!!! So so so pleased with how it's sitting, looks a lot better in real life but i'll attach some photos. Sorted the weird clunking on my spacers just had to file down the bolts so they're on too and the rear wheels sit so nicely in the arches, anyway enjoy!

Oh yeah also bit of advice my ABS and traction control orange lights are now on, anyone know why this is?

This looks really nice man, and it's good to see you're actually declaring them. Everyone gets soooo angry when you mention not declaring, such a high horse!

Maybe the ABS is cause of the long bolts and when it was turning the long bolts have clipped the sensor? Vag-com will report the error though.

Cheers mate, I'm gonna try and reset the ECU tomorrow and see if that fixes the issue, if not it's getting serviced later this month so I'll ask them to take a look.

Also picked up a sub and amp today. Wasn't planning on getting one but my mate was selling his so I took it home and had a little look online and it's a Mutant twin sub each is 600W and the amp is a 'the loudest' 3000W which is £300 new alone and seeing as he wants £100 for both I don't think I'm gonna turn it down
