Just thought mate, mart who sold me the abf's job is industrial sewing and he made his own belts and has loads of colours, may be worth a shout!

These turned up this week :)

I got round to getting my harnesses bolted in the other day and everything tidyed up a little and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

i made the seats fit by making 2 seperate back legs and a joint front leg with runner, same sort of idea that vw do. i wanted to keep the weight to a minimum so this idea worked perfectly and looks pretty neat apposed to some bulky designs I've seen used

Another reason i made them like this is so that they fit straight into the vw runners so i didnt have to weld any extra bits in.

then bolted the harnesses in using factory mounts

i couldnt think of anywhere to fasten to on the inside and i didnt like the idea of bolting to the seat so i drilled a hole in the top of the runner and it worked really well

Like the car dude but you should really think about repositioning the harnesses's . Mounting the rear straps that low means, should the worse ever happen all the force's are pushed down your spine . The attatched pdf should give you more of an idea, cheers Mark

Fit a strut brace and mount um to that?

That'd be more ideal, height wise.

To be honest i think that would still be a little too far away and still at too much of an angle , roll cage or harness bar in my opinion , Mark

Well thats one thing i never considered when fitting them, this may have just swayed me towards fitting a rear strut brace then. cage is always an option but i dont think i have enough power to warrant having one. we shall see.

any ideas on how heavy cages are ? main thing that puts me off them is how heavy they must be and when in a small car with not much power weight is essential, or should i say weightless

I guess, unless your planning some track use its pointless.

But harnesses are even more pointless if your just using it on the road. they are so fucking annoying when trying to look around n shit lol.

i have decided i like the idea of harnesses better than the practicality of them. went for a spin in it the other day after i got them fitted and they were just annoying, especially if you just want to go somewhere quick you have to get all strapped in just to go the shop. should of gone for buckets with oem seatbelts ftw ha

If you dislike the practicalities you can get them which have reels on them for sitting forward - saf used to (maybe still does) have a set

yeah i will just have to use them a few times first to see what i think of them and i cba to change them just yet. need to get my painting done now so we will see what happens

right then, havn't updated in a while because theres not been much going on.

got round to getting the patches in and messing about with other things

Rear arch patch not the tidiest but its better than a hole, banged loads of rust stopper on there too

Give it a good coat of underseal and a quick coat of paint

These two were more tricky though as one was right down by the light, gave that a good coat of rust stop aswel

Gave it a skim of filler and then painted it up. its not mint but I'm happy with it

well i keep doing abit on this when i get chance but its still a long way off.

I started taking all the suspension apart to fit the new top mounts and ARB blocks and was met by the usual rust and crap which i did say i wasnt going to bother with but i couldnt resist giving it i right good going over with the wire brush and a big coat of heaven in tin, hammerite! love that stuff.

its not show condition but it looks a dam sight better than it did before. Got it all bolted back on and greased up so that it will come apart easier when i have to sort the ride height out.

got the ARB blocks on when i was putting it all back together and what a pain in the arse they were to fit, dont know if it was just me but the holes just didnt line up at all so that took ages

So this is how its been living for quite a while now, been doing the odd bit on it but nothing major

Then becasue christmas was coming up and I'm a nice guy :) i treated her to some new shoes and i must say shes wears them well.
