Bit last minute is an under statement, so far my to do list includes build and fit the avy, pulled the dash out and refit another that isn't bodged, change the front interior loom, fit a new front quarter window and get a tire fitted.

If all that goes to plan, give it a good clean. Not looking forward to this weekend at all :sad:

This thread is devoted to my polo that I had many years ago as my first car. It developed an irratic idle and was said to have a cracked piston head which would not be worthy of replacing. I really love the car and its retro feel so I refused to let it be taken away knowing one day I would have the financial clout to sort it out.

Alas, 8 years later and my parents (who's drive it was residing on) tired of it been there, therefore it was given away after my initial investigations yielded that it would need welding; something I can't do or know of anyone who can.

It's really nice to see that the car is getting the attention it deserves but I would be very very keen to buy it back after it is completed. I do have a boring peugeot 206 now which just doesn't compare and would be willling to move back to my trusty old fox.

I'll be monitoring the thread closely for developments, please let me know if you intend to sell for I fully support you selling it for profit for the hours and parts that you have invested in the project.

Matt you can have first refusal on it if you like mate, and glad you don't mind us making some money off it but as you can probably tell from the photos a lot of work has had to go into saving it, some people might say a bit too much for an old polo but I like a challenge

As mentioned earlier in the thread the only problem we could find with the engine was a stuck thermostat and with that replaced and the exhaust welded the car runs spot on. We haven't driven it yet mind but it seems to be behaving itself nicely in terms of running temp ect.

Due to a spot of bother at home I haven't been in the mood to do much to this but john spent some time on it yesterday doing some welding on the drivers side and welding up the leaking petrol tank. As far as I'm aware there's really not a lot left to do (apart from find a wing and paint) and then put it in for an mot and see what it needs

The boot lid was nowhere near as had as it looked, It seems the window seal was letting water past and allowed some scary looking surface rust to form in some strange places, all cleaned up now

Probably could of if he had waited until he had all the parts like i told him too. Engine is in, vr6 engine loom is ready but he still doesn't have a late spec loom for the rest of the car because he blasted the money he had put aside for it on coke last Saturday night and as far as I know he hasn't even attempted to order the parts for the cable clutch swap.

But i've got a load of free shit out of it for the jetta so he can piss about all he likes, while he's pissing about I don't have to do fuck all on it

It's still as in the photos at the min mate due to both me and john getting caught up with other stuff (my mk2's been keeping me busy and he's started making rock and roll beds for campers), but over the next few weeks its shoud be done. It really is only the respray and the hole in the wheel well left to do then it'll be going in for its mot

Yeah this is being sold mate I have too many cars (3 not including this) and just have no use for it.

Why would I want to swap everything on to this one? That would be pure effort and I'd be left with exactly the same car at the end
