Look at the picture of the interior, Looks like there is a shelf type thing. I've only ever seen 1 of those before, in a scrappy. Should have had it back then.

My money is on this, you can see where there is a gap in the 'roof' of the glovebox where a lamp might have been (in a Golf?)

Correct, it was as easier to swap the whole glovebox section over than to swap the lid and locking mech tho so just swapped the lot

Yeah its getting resprayed in black. How much we want for it is a hard question to answer when we don't know what the market will be like when its done. If it was going up for sale atm in a completed state with 12 months mot and 6 months tax I'd stick it up for 900 and take it from there. When its done it should be a very clean and solid mk2 with a few choice mods yet still cheap to insure and run (or a perfect base for an engine conversion).

Well the previous owner has got first refusal of it but the last I heard he was emigrating and I doubt that this would be done in time for that. If it isn't looking like he will be interested i'll let you know

Not that i'm in a rush to buy it, or a black mk2 for that matter. But when do you think your likely to have it on the road ready to sell etc?

That totally depends on when john has the time to get it in his unit to finish the prep and get it painted

What sort of thickness steel have you been using to repair the various areas? I've got a bit to do on the back of a sill just want to know what sort of thickness I need. Thanks :)

Anything from 1-1.5mm is fine Gaz, or 3/64-1/16" depending on supplier!

Not sure how thick this is Gaz, got a mate who nicks it from work for me so never had to order it to size i'll measure some later to be sure, but I think its 1mm

That's going in my other coupe (the one in my avatar), but yeah its going well, picked up a intercooler from yoof pb Friday, already got the eaton and management. The car isn't at home atm so I can't do much more than collect parts, but it should be back over the next week or so and then I can start mocking shit up.

I need to get all the shit together really and work out what else I'm gonna need to get, I think I can use the loom I got with the omex and luckily the 1.6 is already fitted with a trigger wheel so that's one less thing to worry about

Have you made any progress with yours yet mate? And how's the leg doing?

Does the omex system need a trigger wheel, or can it work off of a cam shaft postition sensor (such as hall sender)?

Simon they need a certain ratio i think its 36-1 whereas the vw standard maybe different i dont know i shouldnt need one i dont think will have to see

yeah Guy bought a K03s with manifold and some piping for £50 delivered off of vee-dub on here which is a bargain but the turbo needs a rebuild and a new compressor wheel so all that will cost me £90 tbf i now have two exhaust manifolds to play around with now so if i fook one up i have a spare to use but if i dont mess it up i can sell the other for some money back or adapt that for the afh too and sell it on for some profit probs do that puts more money back into the project

also should have my g40 ecu and engine loom in the post today to me just need to work out all the sensors i need i have a knock sensor and blue temp sender coming might put a quick thread up asking now and wheres your other cars build thread then lol i just found this one so thought it was this one

Omex can use either 36-1 or 60-2 trigger wheels, from what I can gather vw use 60-2

Back on topic with this car, had a day of prep work today. It's been cleaned up, any surface rust that's reared its ugly head has been addressed, the paint has been DA'd and its been primered where needed

Not gonna be able to get down to get the paint for it till Friday now so hopefully it will be painted next weekend and the rebuild can commence.

Brakes were also bleed today and the boot lid removed and stripped ready to be replaced with the one from my coupe
