Cars these days are designed to fail so the car manufacturers can make more money on selling replacement parts. Simple as. Also the 1.2 12vs implode after about 70k I've been working in a garage for 2 years and a bit now and have rebuilt 3 of these engines.

On a completely different and random note, as I wrote this reply a Muslim walks in and asks us if well fit his tyres for free. We burst out laughing at him and he left..

to me the main reason not to buy a brand new one is cuz on my budget I'd like to be able to fix it myself,plus I just love being able to say 'I did that myself and didn't get charged the earth by a garage to replace a screw because they had to hook it up to a computer to tell them where to put it' lol , yes the new ones may look smarter and more comfy,but there's a lot you can do to your 'old' one to make it just the way you like it.

Another reason though is that I love driving,any time any where, I can do that without having to worry about scratches and that,I can do to her what I like,like spraying her bonnet pink , I got told a couple of days ago by a very hot n bothered man that my car was parked up too close to the back of his at the pick-up area of a big supermarket, but as he had at least 1 meter of room at the front of his car I told him I could fit a bus through there,ofcourse that did upset him a bit and just as I was about to put my key in my car door to help the poor man,who obviously never driven a bus before,he threatened me that if I didn't back up my car he would bash into her!!! Well,I took my key back and told him to go ahead ,he did and took off in a rush,there were several witnesses,I got his numberplate and I reported him to the police,but the best bit for me is knowing that it did his car more damage then mine lol!

I don't see why people have issues with buying cars new. If no one buys them new then you can't buy them second hand. Yeah there are plenty of cars about but they will eventually die and cars that are new now will be needed for people like us in the future.

The experience of buying a new car is totally different to buying a second hand one. For example when my mum got her 5 series she can choose the colour, the spec, what extras she wants, she needs. Gets to wait for it and have it delivered and its totally brand new and made for her. With second hand cars there is nearly always compromise. You might buy a red one when you want a black one cause its cheaper. Or you can't find a black one. You might find one without electric windows and have to fit them yourself.

When you buy new it was built just for you. Little things like she got flowers in the car when it was delivered. Whens the last time you see a second hand car dealer or a private seller doing something like that?

If it brakes down she can take it back to them and they will sort it out regardless. I can hardly see my 55 year old mother with arthritis cracking out a socket set and fixing her car.

For the time being I like my old cars. I don't see the point for me personally to rinse money on something like a Polo/Clio/Corsa type of car. But if I was buying something bigger and more luxurious I would want to buy new. I'm not in that market yet so I'll stick to my old cheap shitboxes.
