shame about the burnt carpet on the turret lol

Lol, yeah I'd been at it all day, skipped lunch and was in no mood to rip up the glued down carpet. Gunna need a lot of air fresheners to get rid of the smell of welding.

As for welding, it's easy, I bought my first MIG welder just over a year ago and taught myself how to do it. I wouldn't say I'm an expert but I weld pretty good, most of my work is on exhausts though so it doesn't have to be structural.

mine was as bad as that but i managed to grind it all out and plate weld it all back up. glad you saved it.

I had to save it, she's only done 34k miles so there was no way I was scrapping it. I dunno why vw didn't put a plastic arch liner there, seems so obvious, I'm gunna make a plate to sit over there after the MOT.
