why bother arseing about with the standard mani when you could just get the flange off ebay and make a decent mani up in 1/2 hour?

seriously dude, don't bother, chuck the standard one in the bin and forget all about it, it does "work" in a sense, but it's utter shit and the engine runs like an asthmatic fat kid, as soon as i bolted on the other mani (made from ebay flange) the difference was insane, there's a straight stretch of dual carriageway between 2 roundabouts at the back of my house, managed 55-60 before braking with the standard mani, hit 70 with the decent one, changed nothing but the manifold.

by all means use the standard one mate, but you're in for a whole world of aggrovation if you do, trust me, been there, done it, and got the sealant on my t-shirt

i made a base plate with a fucking file and a hacksaw in about 4 hours and some beers...today iv made up 4 inlet tracts including machining groves into them, that took 1hr max, just needs welding

Fuck me, you've been told i dont know how many times, but yet you insist on using the standard thing haha.

I bought one of them there flanges from FD Tuning, on fleabay, i bought a length of tubing, and i made up some flanges, i'll be using the standard carb rubbers, bolted to my flanges which are welded to the inlet tracts.

Stops and pissing about getting it to seal, and it keeps the neatness

But, it's all trial and error. Atleast if it doesn't work, he'll know why.. But, he's started now, so, let him finish. As long as he checks the plugs after 5 mins and it's not too lean, pftt, it'll be fine.. :p

i see peoples point though, the jubilees will apply pressure on the 4 corners of the inlet tube, and simply 'arc' over the flats, meaning a lot less pressure on them, thats what could cause the leak. ideally if the thickness is there yo should file it more round :)
