Was he actually speeding? If someone insists on driving over the speed limit then they can't get all arsey when someone pulls out leaving a sensible gap that wouldn't cause any problems if they weren't speeding.

You need to report this to the police, you have his reg and a witness. Personally I would`nt have got out the car. This is also the reason I have an extendable wheel brace down the side of my driver`s seat. A guy in a van once chased me, when I stopped at some lights he got out and then he saw what I had, he got back in his van and drove off. I would happily cave the side of somebody`s head in in self defence, the biker would have to get a broken arm..

Never had a problem with bikers although when they get in a group they race around like dicks. It`s an excuse to wear a leather gimp suit. No wonder so many die, I`ve seen bikers overtake cars before who were in the fast lane so they go between the car and the central reservation. I don't mind bikes most of the time if the rider is being sensible but its the twats who undertake you in heavy traffic. that leads to the horn being pressed and me flooring it to warn them off doing it. I'm not gonna intentionally hurt anyone but bikers sometimes seem hell-bent on getting their kicks from putting themselves and others in danger. not just bikers though, last week I had a road rage incident where as far as I can tell I did nothing wrong and wasn't even angry. was pootling along a dual carriageway (40 limit) at 40 in the left hand lane and I see an E36 bomb it along the right hand lane, after he went past I pulled out and gave it some beans to get to 70 as it was then national speed limit, the next traffic lights go red so I see him stop and pull up behind him must be 10 or 15 feet behind and he gets out of the car and starts shouting at me (I can't hear what he is shouting, I was listening to music) so I shrugged my shoulders and left it alone. Light goes green and he flies off undertakes someone (during rush hour) and almost loses it.

The outlook I have on driving is everyone is a fucking moron so prepare yourself.

i'm not a fan of the powerangers either. Buzzing round on there bean cans all afternoon thinking there valantino rossi.

As per though its the minority which ruin the rep for the good guys.

seriously, whoever thought it was a good idea to sit ontop of a lump of metal which (in some cases) produce a silly power/weight ratio and whizz along at high speeds with little more than some cow skin to protect, must be completely crazy! especially when you consider the roads are full of much bigger, harder lumps of metal driven by any tom dick or harry.

now i know motorbikes are epic and i would love to own one, but i dont because I'm scared i might get knocked off it and killed. thats the risk of having a bike, whether its right or wrong its just a fact of life by the nature of the beast. i can understand why someone may have got pissed off but the reaction to the OP if thats exactly what happened is well out of order

not to mention there are some absolute nutters out there (how id ride if i dared to have one though tbh) i got undertaken when i was doin 95 on the a3 today so fast that my passengers barely noticed him, the guy spotted the most narrow gap between the car in the slow lane and the car ahead of me

Regardless of the situation your best to just report it. He may have been speeding or you may have just had a small window of error - it doesnt matter the guy assaulted you which was out of order.

As stated earlier just tell the popo you want him cautioned for his behaviour and let that be the end of it. He gets warned and you get off knowing you were the bigger man keeping some what cool and managed not to swing back (cant say id keep my cool that well.)

From a bikers viewpoint. Its a pain in the arse but i generally find knowing I'm more vulnerable makes me far more alert of situations. If you work by the logic everything on the road wants to kill you dead, you generally learn the tell tale signs.

Exactly, I appreciate that seeing someone fail to notice you could provoke anger, given that on a bike that's a little more serious than a shunt and an insurance claim, but with the increased risk, you should be a lot more wary too?

Quite a few of my mates ride, they are often giving the middle finger to bad motorists, but pulling them over and assaulting them is definitely a step too far.

I often end up on the fosse way and have seen all sorts, I like to think I'm pretty good to bikes, I usually give a quick flash of the left indicator when there's a a bike or two behind, just to let them know I'm aware they're there, I'm not going to pull out to overtake as they come past me (chances are they'll have seen me overtaking earlier so might be a bit cautious, as they should be) and its clear ahead. Most give me a nod or a wave as they go past. Brilliant, this is how it should work and I have utmost respect for them.

But unfortunately not everyone is like this. A few times I've had them sit in my blind spot whilst deciding whether or not to overtake, talk about being suicidal, I normally see them coming from a distance so am aware they're still behind me, but twice now I've dropped 3 cogs, and just as I've gone to pull out I've done a final blind spot check and seen a bike right there. In that situation, its the car driver giving the finger...

I hate it when two bikes go either side of you on the motorway, when you see the first you want to move over slightly but his mate is whizzing up the other side!

If we all got out and smacked everyone that pissed us off or cut us up we'd all have bruised knuckles by the end of the day!

When on the road, i'm almost always on the bike. It's lovely to see car drivers acknowledging you, say when you're filtering through traffic they pull to the left out of the way, brilliant, evryone's happy. But there are some times you just think that all car drivers are knobs because they don't see you, or do see you and think nothing of you. I don't speed much, I tend to save racing for motocross.

I know what everyone's saying about bikers thinking they own the road, possibly because we are more nimble, consume less fuel, and just think we are total legends.

But yeah i can't see this debate being solved on a forum, each to their own.

So, just my opinion, a lot of car drivers should highly consider motorcycles as a more economical way to get about. I feel bad when i'm driving my car and wasting so much fuel.

I’m a car driver, biker and a cyclist and I don’t see why the hate refers to the group as a whole and not just the fact that the bloke on the bike was an idiot for taking to far.

It’s the same as all saying al skins head are Nazi’s, or all Muslims are terrorists or all BMW drivers are c**ts.

I’ve been in a car and had people cut me up I’ve been on my motorbike and had people nearly crash into me, I cycle and have people leave me no gap or take me out with a wing mirror. But then these upsides people leave gaps, let you through or flash you in etc.

So why does a whole committee get blamed for a few people misfortunately. we have all done silly things and all been victims of people stupid actions.

The person on the motorbike is the idiot not the whole biking committee. So blame the individual person not the whole committee.

I’m 29 and was on a learner on a motorbike and a few people treat you as if you’re not allowed on their bit of road.

As a biker myself, I know how some car drivers can be. But, if you had left him enough room, then I can't see the problem. Tbh i'd ring the Police and get this sorted out, he could be done for assault.

I'm a biker and a driver as well.

It's usually abit of both, the only irritating thing I found as a biker is when there is standing or slow moving traffic and you're filtering, then some knobend decides to move over more into the centre of the road to prevent you getting past...

Some bikers I will agree think they own the road far too much though. I think bikers need to calm down abit some times, and car drivers definately need to be more observant, especially on roundabouts and lane changes.

90% of bikers are polite road users, who will always wave at you when you give the overtaking room.

2 years ago i honked at a guy cutting me up at a junction, at the next lights he hops out of his car screaming: "honk that fucking horn one more time and il snap your neck"

The missus was pissing herself laughing at the guy - knowing that he was in wrong, and honked the polos horn agian.

Then the car behind us honked, I starting laughing at the guy.

He then just scream FUCK OFF, got back in his focus saloon and drove off like a dick head.

It happens everyday, be it rider of driver.

when i've got a bike behind me, i don't really like it so move as far left as i possibly can and usually give a quick indicator flash left so that they can go round me. if i make a mistake, i acknowledge that i've made a mistake.

to the OP, you stopped and didn't take him off his bike, yeah, you didn't see him, but you didn't hit him either, he was jsut a douche!

The first thing i noticed when i did my cbt a few years back was how much more aware you are as a road user.

I guess it comes down to your vunerability but its a good thing to be awake on the road.

As soon as Id passed my bike test I did the police 'Safe Rider' course and this was a great help in both terms of safety and awareness.

IMHO everybody should have to do a CBT in order to progress to a car test.

Yes there are lots of bikers that are knobs, but there are more in cars.

The fact of the matter is, the biker hit you-so report him!

Dont judge every biker by the same standard.

I'm more impressed on how many bikers are on here.

Rarest thing on the road round me IMO is a sensible biker. 1 in every 50 i would imagine, such as, a few times I've seen a biker overtaking stationary traffic on the right, when the car at the front is indicating right, so the car pulls out, hits the biker, and somehow, the car driver gets a bollocking from the biker?
