Sanding Down a Splitter

Alright guys, I want to crack on with things that I want to do to my Polo and one of them is spray then GTi splitter I got coming silver. The only thing is I don't know what type of sandpaper or how rough it should need to be to then straight after Prime, Spray and then lacker etc.

What sandpaper would I need? Anyone done it before?
