windscreen washer pump

Featured Replies

okay lets start at the start,

I removed the standard washer bottle from my Mk3 (Mk2f) Polo.

I replaced it with a tudour item for a classic car where my charcoal canister used to be. Front offside, just behind the headlight.

I enlarged the hole in the top of the bottles cap. fitted the grommet from the vw washer bottle.

Then fitted the standard twin out let pump and attached a piece of pipe to it so it could get to the bottom of the water

filled it up

connected up the wiring and plumbing

But ( here we go) when i pull back on the wiper stalk for the ould quick squirt and wipe treatment i get nothing. I've tried holding it down for a good minute but thought that wouldn't the pump any good.

It did squirt twice, but that was it and now i cant get it to squirt anymore.

It worked perfect before i went 'at it'

does the bottom of the vw pump have to be submerged to work?

Am I missing something

any help please
