mk3 1.3spi not starting

Featured Replies

Hi, I've got a problem on my mk3 thats puzzling me, i was using the car fine for months then one morning i took it out of the garage, got out to shut the garage door and it died. I havnt managed to get it started since :?

I thought spark first, so I've replaced:

coil

leads

plugs

dizzy cap

I've checked the rotor arm which is in good condition.

After i ruled out the above i moved onto fuel as i noticed when i turned on the ignition, the petrol gague no longer moves! Or does so very very slowly and yes it has plenty of petrol.

I've replaced the inline pump by the back wheel and fuel filter, I've also took off the lines to the in tank pump under the rear seat and when it primes on ignition it spays a decent amount of fuel out. I've opened the airbox expecting to see some fuel from the injector when starting but its dry on the throttle plate, even when pumping it.

Thats as far as I've got, I'm thinking to replace the in tank pump as maybe it cant hold enough pressure...? Or could it be and ecu issue? Apart from that I'm stumped, any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

thanks
