Ban lorries to transport goods only at night, less traffic, more consistent delivery times, and I won't have to follow two of the twats for 10miles battling it out for pole position.

Also agree a large percentage of people can't drive on the roads- the difference is driving standard from the M40 to Jct 14 M6 is night and day!

I kinda think its a good idea for me personally, as I sit at 80 pretty much whenever I'm out on the open road.

But the 70mph limit was introduced in 1965 I believe.

Back then as already pointed out earlier cars were fitted with drum brakes all round and not many would actually do 70mph.

Also back then cars weren't so easy to drive, so you had to have some skill on the roads.

These days cars are fitted with much more effective disc brakes and pretty much everything will do 70+ mph.

However...cars these days are so easy to drive that I believe you can pass a driving test (the minimum standard) and have little or no driving skill to speak of.

So to allow these people to go faster without much skill is a recipe for disaster I think.

All it means to me is even more people will be overtaking me . I dont go over 70 very often, because sat at 70 my 1.0 4 speed MK3 with its stupid loud exhaust is revving at 4000rpm. Prefer the back roads anyway, much more fun

At the moment, 2 weeks away from signing missives on a house, I am more concerned about getting as much from my tank as possible :)

that wouldnt work as all most supermarkets work the Deliveries at night as its quicker so they need to be delivered in the day to be in and on time for the night crew to work it.

Also i think this will be good as it will hopefully stop people doing 60 in the outside lane making people undertake!!
