getting bored of the polo now, want something with some character, I've had a mk3 polo mk4 polo and mk5 polo, all of which felt boring to me.

dont get me wrong I've loved them all to bits and shall no doubt go back to one eventually.

I'm wanting something different now.

now it has to be insurance friendly, but also has to have character.

anyone who says mk4 golf or bora, well before you say it just leave.

been looking at series 1 106 rallyes but its difficult to find an original one now :/

If you're looking for character, go for a mk1 golf, even with all the times its broken down, I've never looked back and not once got close to selling it

Also, thing with a mini, they might not work all the time, but there isnt a single part you cannot get, wither 2nd hand or brand new

And normally parts are cheap and plentiful. Its only MK1 bits that seem hard to come by.

Awesome little cars too, plenty of mods to be done.

if you have the time to spend fixing them... if you buy an old 850cc mini, the insurance is stupidly low with lancaster, ie:

mine is £985 mk2 polo 1.3

and just £290 mini 850cc

Yeah right! My dad had one of those when it was probably 10 years old and it was terrible! Most unreliable car hes owned!

Oh and if you looking a 106 rallyes why not look for 205gti's theres still plenty of them and they supposed to be fun cars to drive!

The only thing that goes wrong with them is points or condensors, both of which can be ditched by fitted a electronic ignition kit such as the lumination kit which is cheap as chips and easy to fit

Even if some thing does go wrong on them they are an absolute piece of piss to work on and there's plenty of upgrades available for them due to their motor sport heritage

My mums ex had capri's most of the way through my childhood and I can never remember them being particularly unreliable? Even back then tho (a good 15 years back) he was having to crack the welder out to get them through the mot. He had a mk2 Granada once that when some one came to to buy it the door dropped and came off in his hand when he opened it, god bless old skool fords
