The two I had didn't have them, I had a very early and a very late one (C and G reg) If you look in the brochure archive, the ranger in the brochure for 1987 doesn't have one either. Could also be that your tailgate was replaced at some point? Although I can see the ranger sticker on there so maybe not.

Most likely, my car is a 1990 according to the reciept.

Pretty easy man, use a credit card or guitar pick (something like that) and start to pry it off, use some wd40 or something similar to get rid of the sticky stuff. Don't do it too fast as you might crack the paint

Okay, so a little update really.

I've started smoothing down the boot, used a flat chisel thing and a hammer to put dents around the holes, and then used fibreglass to cover the holes, and now I'm using body filler over the top.

Since it's far too cold to properly spray the front arches back to Tornado Red, I've decided to have a bit of fun in the mean time, so decided to mask up the troll face.

This is how it turned out (like I said this is only a bit of fun until I can get the car sprayed properly)

Sportex 2" backbox and downpipe for an austin mini. Down pipe wasn't gonna fit, but backbox did with enough molesting. Looks way better than any polo exhaust I could find, sounds gorgeous too. Not silly loud, just burbles.

So £460 later...

came with engine, gearbox, all ancillaries and bottles (washer, coolant etc), powersteering hoses, ecu, full wiring loom, pedal assembly, air con unit...

Now a case of working on it for the next 10 months until I'm old enough to get engine swap insurance (have to be 19 with 2 years no claims).

Should be good.

Back end is bumperless and arches are damn near ready, just got to spray her now. Exciting.

Nothing new on engine. Can't stick that in til I'm 19.

in the mean time. Coils, stage 2 ppp subframe, black diamond discs, ebc greenstuff pads, ARB blocks and rear bushings. Ride comfort... virtually non existant. Handles and brakes like a dream.
