Nice build this matey!

Are they just the standard calipers with uprated pads and disks?

IF so i may do this as the brakes on my mk2 loon are shite!!

Cheers man,

And yes that's right. as long as you get the correct spec then you can easily get discs and pads which are far better quality but they are more expensive. The pads cost me £35 and the discs were a hefty £145. I have also ordered braided hoses which will not expand like rubber ones, and I am looking into replacing the master cylinder.

Obviously this set up will never be quite as good as a Big Brake conversion by the likes of Brembo or Tarox but Big Brakes cost a lot more (the ones I've seen are around £1200ish) and only fit 15" wheels or larger, so they are a little impractical.

Excuse if this appears to be thread bumping, it's just updating with pics.

So as I posted earlier she is now bumperless at the back, currently smoothing down the areas which were obviously hidden. The passenger side rear arch is finally finished and ready to spray, I'm bloody pleased with it:

IMAG0311.jpg

at the back you can see where I've redirected the numberplate lights to come out the boot. I'm going to make some kind of cover for it with an LED strip so it doesn't look out of place. I've smoothed down the original rear bumper mounts:

IMAG0309.jpg

and the drivers side arch is very nearly done, and you can see where I'm smoothing the original bumper mounts.

Now I'm going to be honest, thanks to my luck I have managed to win a small fortune, some of which I'm splashing out on my car. So expect some pretty cool stuff on the way... Carbon fibre parts, Turbo for the 1.6, and others... No spoilers sorry :)

Naughty things.

r1throttlebodies.jpg

Yamaha r1 fuel injected throttle bodies. How will they fit? Who knows, but they will.

IMG_9374.jpg

Fibreglass bonnet, polycarb windows. expect more lightweight goodies soon

I want your rear bumper to try and put it on my mk2f. Mk2s over here are non existent, I just wanna see if it'll fit!

Wonder how much it would cost to post such a lightweight/enormous parcel...?

Amazing build so far, keep it up

It's time to say goodbye for a little while.

The polo is going to be put to sleep, because I have too many ideas which I simply can't just do bit by bit like I have been doing. She's being taken off the road for a few months for winter and will be a very different car.

See you in a few months.

So. As with everything things always take a lot longer to put plans into action. Partly being lazy, partly down to my parents taking forever to move into a house with a larger garage -.-

Eventually managed to convince them to let me start the hardcore work on my polo.

Pictures shout 1000 words so I'll briefly run through where I'm at atm:

Sunny day and no work, so carried on :)

Removed the dash. Gonna be cutting the bastard up.

Back end jacked up to remove the petrol tank.

Petrol tank gone. Was a complete fucking bastard. The filler pipe was bashed up into a weird angle and wouldn't give way - had to cut it off whilst the tank was spewing the remains of the petrol in my face.

Also guys, not needing this anymore. I don't have the ARB blocks to suit, but if anyone wants this stage two subframe cheap then ask me :)

My parents are moving house not next friday but the friday after. as soon as they are gone I can start the engine swap!

Not quite. it's the phil j berg cup kit but unfortunately it none of it seemed to fit very well. the rear arches obviously wouldn't, but the fronts were way off. the chin spoiler seems to be way off as well - so I'm just gonna make it fit - then make carbon fibre copies of everything

I'm going to be making my own fibreglass parts. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot :L

How much was you after for the stage 2 then?

Also -

Bought these from Eric way back in January:

74376_10200396175494009_1288726677_n.jpg

I've just got round to retrimming them - how the first currently looks:

947237_10201560904411504_190756137_n.jpg

whilst removing the fabric I had no clue how to remove the plastic plugs, so ended up snapping them off with a screwdriver. after many one way emails to cobra I finally got a reply and managed to convince them to send me out some replacement harness plugs

994209_10201560943052470_360301185_n.jpg

Frustratingly though, the cobra subframes which I spent 4 months waiting for (ridiculous I know) don't even fit.
