Bloody Old People

haha, I'm actualy scared to go in the car with her (very rare i do), the only plus point is that she drives a polo (9n3)

Me and my brother tell her about her mistakes but she's just an argant witch sometimes, even when endangering us and others, she usualy pops out the saying "I've been driving alot long than you have!"

Couple of years ago she had a big bump on a country road, Her and my dad tried to hide the fact it was her fault; by telling us all a cow was in the road

She had actualy side swiped a 4x4 as it was passing her, she now tells us not to use that road at night........................................ :wasted:

Thing is, its the road I always drive when leaving my house, I know what its like a night and how close cars get round the tight bends, Its obvious that her reaction times and distance perseption are shite, but she wont listen to us.

another reason why no particular age group should be persecuted is down to individual attitudes, I used to have terrible road rage, used to piss people off deliberately, never liked being overtaken, tailgated etc. but since I became addicted to trying to go as far on a tank as I can, I have calmed down, started listening to 80's tunes it has transformed me into a considerate and careful driver, I never floor it because it'll hurt the economy I just trundle around enjoying how much less stress I have.

So the reason you stop being a dickhead driver was because it hurt your bank balance?

Looks like we found out the answer to stop road deaths completly, the government need to make everyone skint.... o wiat....

it was a factor, then I realised how much happier I was when driving nicely, I'd go places and instead of going "I was held up by some prick" i would say " i had a nice drive here"

sometimes with bad driving, it is the vehicle at fault too, for example we went on a uni trip to see the wind tunnels at the uni of brighton (much, much larger than our uni) and that was about 7 miles along the A27, despite every single one of us being able to drive, they loaded into a uni Minibus (clapped out P reg LDV) and I can honestly say that they quality of the drive was piss poor because for some unknown reason had about 2.5hp and it was really struggling up hills so much at one point we were doing 24 (according to GPS iphone app) in a 70, foot flat.

Yep sounds about right. No point them having a radio fitted as no matter what speed you were doing the engine noise drowned it out

Our Uni had one, I was told to take it out for a drive by the mechanic and not bring it back in repairable condition, but don't crash it as i would be up in front of the students union managers, so find one nice long steep hill, redline in each gear down it till it got to terminal speed, downshifted to 1st...........

hahah bet that was a laugh! what did it do? go bang?

I'd assuming either the gearbox imploded or the engine did.

A lot of things happened in a very short space of time, think i may have torn the fabric of reality.

Black smoke appeared in front, behind, inside. lots of loud clunking and banging followed by vehicle coming to an abrupt and terminal halt on the side of the road.

Various fluids leaked from underneath in a river of Black, golden & blue.

And the gear stick snapped off in my hand.....

Lets just say it wasn't salvageable and was replaced by 2 nice top of the range transits (Which were sadly limited to 62 after a few months and various drivers getting points) :)

hahah that is full of win! id pay to see a video of that lmao!

I was in pain with laughter, Even the recovery driver was pissing himself. He asked "what seems to be the problem" and I handed him a gear stick.

It really should be up there as one of those do before you die type things.

when i did my phone was a Motorola v220 with a .5megapixel camera.

I threated to take my grandads keys away because his driving was getting a little lazy as far as observation goes. (makes it worse that he used (40 years ago) to be a driving instructor). I payed for him to have 5 lessons with my old instructor and tennis coach and if he failed the mock test at on the last lesson i would take his keys until he passed.

Safe to say he passed just fine, i think he just needed me and somebody else to tell him that his driving was a little sub-par.

I will do the same to my mum n dad when they get old and senial.

My brother on the hard will just have to suffer massive ego bashing for stacking his lupo in ditch after 3weeks of driving.

I've had 1 car written off by an old biddy and countless close calls some worse than others

my grandads 75 and has never had a crash

Possibly caused a few though..

Of course, only the bad ones stick out, and most are fine. But stick out they do, by a mile usually - i find oap's can be very erratic and horribly random, but at least you tend to get some notice, so avoidance action is possible.

done the same to a corsa 1.2  downshifting into 1st at 80 there's no sound like it!

vtec kicked in yo! lol

O'really 80mph?,

We all know vauxhalls arent the strongest cars, but what if the gearbox/clutch held 1st at 80mph? You'd achive killing the car and yourself

I have always though Vauxhalls had fairly good brakes lol.

But seriously, old people are fucking dangerous. They seem unable to move their vision from anywhere other than directly in front of them.

I nearly got reversed into by some stupid old coffin dodger yesterday in tesco. I was waiting for the traffic to move, when suddnely the parked car next to me turns its reversing lights on. I sit there and think "Ok, they are probably just getting ready to go" but nooooo, next thing I know they start backing out of the space. The old man in the car was so crippled with age that I could only just see him in the seat, and he was sat there staring STRAIGHT AHEAD whilst reversing in a busy car park. So I hit my horn and he keeps reversing about an inch from my passenger door. Eventually after holding the horn down for a good few seconds he finally realises what is going on.

He gets out of his car (very slowly), sees the situation, then tells me that I am complete idiot and a dangerous driver for stopping behind him, and that I should have moved when I saw his reversing lights come on.

I promptly told him that, maybe if he had bothered to look where he was going he would have seen me and he could have waited. I also asked him why he needed 2 walking sticks, and it turned out that he has had a double hip replacement and could barely walk. Yet somehow his legs work fine when it comes to pushing his brakes...

I agree OAP's are down right dangerous sometimes. I was in traffic on friday waiting at traffic lights. There were 3 lanes and i was in the midle to go right, with traffic coming towards me up the hill on the right hand side and also passing me in my direction but going left (almost all as they should have been) except the old bloke in a 6N Polo who some how had managed to be on my left, on the wrong side of the road, heading over a blind crest  . Luckily he made it to the top before something came towards him in the right direction.

Since working in Cardiff I've found that there are people worse, yes WORSE than OAPs and they're our foreign friends who have a family license that was probably bought in their old countries wherever the fuck they're from. You've all seen how they drive in India and whatever. Its bloody madness and then they bring it all here. My mates s14 got trashed cause some 'woman' in a burka didn't see him. Hmm I wonder why? They stop in middle of busy main roads to have a chat. Most of their cars are not road worthy and a lot of them are two cars stuck together with bubblegum.

And its all fine and dandy driving like little miss daisy everywhere, but you have gotta give it some stick now and again, especially if you have a diesel

To the OP, how did you miss a car doing a U-turn in the middle of the road? He wasnt doing a handbrake turn was he?

He was parked at the left hand side of the road and decided that he was pulling straight out and turning around in the same motion. Pretty impossible to avoid if you ask me.

know this feeling well mate, my brothers 6n valver had some issues with gear boxes..

3 in 8 months haha, he nearly got used to setting of in third, it become that regular,

as for the transits, small tip for you if you didnt know!

couple of months back at work, i kind of filled the van, when i say filled i mean to the brim! 93.56 pence, remember it like it was yesterday...with, wait for it, petrol :( then drove it 10 mile..boss was chuffed to say the least, and i felt like a right rodney! haha thought id share that story with you all :p

 I never managed that one. Mainly as the words DIESEL!!! were printed in 3 inch letters on the inside of the sun visor.

petrol in diesel is about as good as putting a pound of sugar in your fuel tank

diesel in petrol not to bad shit all the same but it wont ruin the engine

was behind a twitchy old person driving back from work this evening, was like he was falling asleep.slowing down then putting his foot down,swerving..

got bored and overtook the old nice person :-)

its easier and safer to pass drivers like that but if there swerving it could be a hazard

 I never managed that one. Mainly as the words DIESEL!!! were printed in 3 inch letters on the inside of the sun visor.

i know mate, i felt like dying there and then haha, its shameful, the fact you open the fuel cap, and it says DIESEL in big black letters, I'm not used to diesels so i forgave myself 8-)
