It means that even though you have proceded with caution, nothing is 100% foolproof.

also on the topic of this thread, there are some folk who have work on cars in a differing way to others, some ways I don't agree with, some I do. they will tell others how they do it and others will follow, if i disagree I don't throw a hissy I just tell the others the way I would do it, and let them decide how to go about it.

True but this takes kinda chopping springs out of the equation - someone might have the best suspension set up in the world (or even standard) but if they haven't tightened a nut up fully or have assembled the set up wrong then theres the same chance that the car could suddenly do 5 flips and kill 10 lambs.

Everyday at least thousands of people drive cars with chopped springs and get through the day without injury or death being caused to them through their chosen route of lowering. Now in comparison how many people jump out of a plane without a parachute and suffer no injury or death?... On a daily basis

anyone with common sense can chop springs accordingly to be safe, as Mikey said.

I also agree with guy, even if you get airbourne while driving, providing the spring isnt so short it will trap between the top mount and damper body, it will reseat, especially coilovers etc where the springs end flat top and bottom, maybe not so good with springs that locate at the ends.

I work in a prototype environment and obviously we try a huge range of things, we even torque wheels up in stages to reduce things such as brake noise etc, people who drop all the gas out of metro dampers and run on bumpstops isnt too safe as it drastically effects braking etc but hey, if you chop your springs, run with one wheel bolt and die, oh fucking well, its your own stupid fault haha, i love how involved people get in this shit, if its not effecting you why give a shit lol
