hi all, i have a bit of a dilemma, due to the gradient chages in my drive way and surrounding area i cant slam my polo 6n as is commonly done, as much as id like too, its not going to happen, so I'm wondering if people have got pictures of polo's any model really, that arent sammed on their arses but still look half decent? i appreciate people may not think there is such a thing haha but still

this photo isnt great, but it kind of shows the problem, my car allready nearly scrubs when i drive up it and look at it..

the bit the merc is one is also pretty awful but yes that is a smoother bit, theres my mums car too which is in the garage and theres the logistics of shifting it all round round time to time, and as far as tarmac ing it goes it leads onto a lane thats is used my about 8 or 9 others cars so the whole thing would have to be done, which has been discussed, but nothing has come of it, and if i used the arguement 'i want to lower my car' wont stand up too well, damn cumbria

I'm thinking of getting some bbs RA's or RXii's as i like that style and wont get cheapish splits, as someone who is new to this scene i allready kind of regard RA's as as almost standerd 'wallpaper' kind of wheels, but i reckon with a good refurm i could get looking good on the car? opinions?

its a hell of lot of change in gradient in such a short distance, which is made worse when it rains and pot holes emerge haha

if i was in your dilemma it would be raised, chunky tyres, big mud flaps and loads of decals. If you can't slam it, make it look like a rally car :p

love it haha, 49 bhp (new) rally carhahaha

you can get the "slammed" look if you choose your style/wheel and tyres well.

15s you can still get low and it look slammed but still gives clearance.

same as 16s.

but get airride and your sorted lol!

I'm running 15inch wheels, coilovers.

Still gives me loads of clearance, dont have any problems with speed bumps or rough ground,

plenty of run up should do it, slam it then get a run up before you park it, turn the stereo up full when you do it then you wont hear any scraping!

on a serious note theres not realy much you can do, if you want to put wheels on but not lower then its going to be your personal choice as to what looks good on the car without lowering it, good luck and keep us posted with pics

Start by sorting everying on the car other then the ride height, then step back and take a look and decide if you wanna go lower. My first MK4 was on standard springs, I hated it. But i lived out in the sticks and if its what you gotta do, its a shame yea. but just make it look tidy without the drop??

i live in an area with shit roads millions of speedbumps and things to scrape on but its still worth the scraping slam it!!!!

Carl i do like the look of you car, its looks good but yeah has enough ground clearance, good job, allright yeah i think 15's are the way to go for definate and ill take it from there, cheers guys a lot of helpful stuff being said, you've hit the nail on the head there collector i think a 40/60mm drop could just about work,

Tbh mate, id get in youch with your local council aboout the lane, if its bad enough they have to sort it out, something to do with the size of pot holes, n if your whole lane can get on board they may retarmac the whole lane which will then leave only your bit to do, n you can buy some home laying tarmac from B&Q pretty cheap, i did my drive with it.

Just an idea but seriously no harm in getting in touch with the council

i sound so miserable when i say, its a private lane pal, even thought it leads to 3 other houses, its never on sat navs or maps, me and one of my mates have decided that pressed plates and wheels are where to start, and take it from there really, as i said I'm 17 and really have shit all money, allthough its my 18th in a month so should get some money then, i have an idea in my head of making appear 'newer' like of course you guys all know its 6n and so is adleast 12 years old but still

youll be surprised how much you can get away with being lowered.

when mine was dropped 60mm it was fine everywhere even with passengers....its only being down 100mm+ i have issues

knobbly tyres. spot lights. mudflaps. yellow tinted lights.

I've driven that everywhere for around a year, I've taking it up inclined roads so bad that the front bumper flexes inwards. I've heard god awful scraping noises to the point it sounds like I've definitely broken something.

Yet, when I jack it up in a stands the only damages is scratches on the front splitter, some small scrapes in the subframe and a small gouge in the centre section of my exhaust. These cars can take a beating, it will be fine :p
