Regarding you not being allowed to run a custom subframe that doesn't use the standard ARB, are you allowed to use rose jointed items etc?

  • Author

Yes, since they were standard fit on G40 it's ok. Otherwise no. In real world terms can't see them equating to much time. Should make it feel nicer. I'm blagging the subframe on the fact it's like the factory sump guard with the middle members removed.

Tighter joints are surely a good benefit, no? Good news on the stage 2 though, can you weld?

I think me getting bigger balls will have more effect than rose joints lol. I can't weld...gutting. Should have learned! Tryingto focus on driving and car setup, can always pay someone to weld and better to trust that to experienced hands.

How much did you pay for the coilovers then tav?

I'm thinking will all this chassis trouble i'm going to, it would be a silly to not spend some money on decent dampening.

Circa £650 but I bought front and rear separately. Not sure if they are good yet...hope so! I did consider the Bilstein route but we shall see...no one really has a hillclimb Polo suspension setup to recommend.

I'm debating wether or not to save for them. Or get the £500 ones from philJ....

Whens its first race gonna be then? wouldn't mind coming up to watch. sure a few others would come too!

You should just make some max .. I see your a good welder .. philJ does the Gaz adjustable shocks ( shortend ) and just buy a coilover conversion kit with sutable springs ?

Would that not cost more though?

I could weld myself a set for sure, but the thread explaining it all and what was needed doesn't appear to be about anymore.

give me a sec ill find it ..

But coilover kit inc springs 100 ...

gaz shocks are like 200 ..

And just need a set of struts which you could get for free or dirt cheap ..

Thanks Andy! I'll come visit when it's done, been too long!

I need a little more help from people to get this finished. I'm going to slap on standard inlet, throttle body and elbow along with the fancy new head and stand alone ECU. This way I can save up for throttle bodies but also get the car running this year...

...only issue is I sold my bloody inlet manifold. Doh! I have a wanted thread up here, have a look and see if you can help: http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=284688

Bought a house dude...so done no car work for a couple of months. That's not great...but the good news is the house has a garage...with a pit! So instead of driving 23 miles to work on the car I can walk 6 ft. Should be back cracking away at it in a month or two. Keep thinking of jacking it in and just using the Clio and splashing dosh on it...but really I want to BEAT the Clios with the Polo haha!

Don't you dare get rid of it!

So jealous of the garage, makes such a difference.

Yeessssir!

I want a garage :( ..

Keep .

Spent alot of time and money to use something french, although they do handle well lol

Handling is over-rated. Un-predictable handling is where its at, much more fun!

True that !!!

Cant wait to get these toyo's and rear arb on .. :p

Looks good! You going to convert to studs? I know timed pitstops aren't part of hillclimbing, but if you're taking wheels on/off on a regular basis, they're so much easier!

Also will try to get you a set of adjustable TCA asap- but don't hold your breath!

those adjustable TCA's, could you use them on a lowered polo to reduce or increase the camber? or does it not work like that?
