mk1 golf rev counter with mk2 polo speedo

A mate has given me a set of mk1 golf cabriolet clocks with rev counter and i have the 2 sat next to each other and there are afew differences.On the golf clocks there are 2 screws to remove the speedo head but not on the polo ones.The golf ones also have a 2 pin connector on the back and the polo ones dont.So what I'm wondering is it possible to use the rev counter from the mk1 clocks with my original speedo?
