Top Gear returns

Featured Replies

thats what I'm saying, there just repeating old challenges. its boring. i think itd be better if they thought of new stuff man

But it's not like the cars and things that are happen are exactly the same.

I think Topgear should be a motoring show. Not a chalange show. Does anyone remember the old style topgear, early 90's style where they actually tested cars. Not did a load of useless rubbish like make explosions and please the scum of the earth with cheap comedy??????

I watched a couple of early 90's episodes recently and they were shockingly boring

If you want car reviews and such go watch Fifth Gear.

Well it all depends on what you are expecting from the show.

I would just like it to be a bit more down to earth.......

Yeah, but would you rather see a Zonda or Ferrari smoking it's rear tyres, or watch a Fiesta Diesel be compared for it's boot space and economy? I know which i'd rather watch. As said, if you want car reviews, Fifth Gear is the way to go.

as they said when they had to change the visa's for the US, it's an "entertainment" type programme. I agree with some comments, but its better than dancing on ice/ballroom spectacular/icantsingbutwanttobefamousfactor etc.

To the OP,

Thanks for reminiding me, might of forgot otherwise and the mrs would have me watching one of the above.

one of my earliest memories of top gear was tiff driving a lotus sunbeam ti on an airfield with clarkson and the rest of the lads in there scaring the living shit out of them

Who wants to watch them do proper boring car tests though? Very small minority

I couldnt give a fuck how much boot space the new fiesta has, or how many removable seats the new zafira (sp) has and how economical.

What i want to see is stupidly expensive cars being spanked around a track and old knackers taken to there limits doing stupid things

Epic road trips is where its at! Creating Blue stuff <3 with a sexy lambo. And awesome turbo noise from a Noble.

Sierra <3

I think it's daft, it's amusing, it's interesting and it's entertaining. And it's better than ever.

Clarkson saying the lambo is like a golf! :)

will.i.am was a little weird though

It's Will.i.am. you missed the last dot  :p

He's not the stig, but he Is the stig's Chinese cousin!

Most hilarious entrance ever!

I really wanna go to a NASCAR race weekend, looks like a shit load of fun, beer, beef and crashes 8-)

Love the fact they used a team America song during the montage

I'm bulk buying bicycle locks this week lol

Jesus, how old does Matt la'blanc look

Brilliant episode. But the Chinese can keep there cars. Not everything you make should be exported.:lol::lol:

Chinese build quality is absolutely shocking, until they sort that out main stream car manufacturer's have nothing to worry about

Roewe have had a lot of UK input into their designs - the engineers out hot testing the Roewe 550/MG 6 last summer were mainly English and ex-Rover. Oh, and the electronic steering column lock hardware on 'em is my fault!

ex-Rover...not really selling it.

MONTAGEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

but yeah SAIC have put a shed load of cash into the MG/Roewe marques and it seems from the motoring press that the only qualms with the MG6 is that the engine and transmission could be improved and CO2 reduced. I'm all for more MG's I just think its a shame BMW hold the rights to the Rover name and won't sell it (new Rover metro based on the new mini anyone?).

fuck forgot about top gear, iplayer timeeeee!

bad form eric! no snow down here so I wasn't out doing handbrake turns at the local drive thru. meaning I could watch top gear.

hahahah sucks to be youuuu lool

Indeed. Point is, China can't entirely take the blame - or the credit. Though to be fair, I've worked with some good engineers who are ex-Rover too.

Clarkson's point that the Chinese went from nowt to an okay(ish) car in 5 years gets diluted a little when you know they've bought in help from Europe to get that far, and that 5 years ago they weren't as backwards as Top Gear made out. Chinese OEM Chery had fleets of hybrid cars ready for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and they were comparable to a Korean car of a slightly earlier vintage in terms of quality. However, the powertrain and hybrid system were developed in Europe...
