085 differential in a 084 gearbox

I'm not sure if this has been covered somewhere but the search doesnt comeback with anything.

My question is can the 085 crown wheel and pinion be fitted to the 084 gearbox? I've not heard or seen it done.. but it may be possible.

Now for the people who have had both gearboxs apart....on the output layshaft is the diff pinion fixed to the shaft or removable?
