6n2 Gti 5 Door Repping

Featured Replies

have put the mk2 coupe s in my garage to get All the body work sorted out and make a start on some o the major mods I have got to do !

So I went out and bought a 2001 gti in black, and thought I would represent the 5 door crew

all pretty much standerd as of yet .

black diamond stage1 clutch fitted - as needed doing so thought i would fit something better than a standerd one

LED sidelights

have put sound system in though, which is currently

Hertz Ep5 amp

parrot asteroid head unit

diamond sub in boot

JL C2-690tx 6x9 on custom shelf

hertz speakers in door with tweeters - forget what model they are ,

will add a few pics of car and bits and bobs

things i want to do are clean up engine bay and colour code some bits red ,

fit an internal induction kit

get full stainless exhaust done and manifold

clean up alloys and also get some nice new ones for the summer time ,

and just general tidy ups here and there

post-36826-1331077484_thumb.jpg

also the red paint on the engine was starting to look really crapp so rubbed alot of it off ready for a new lick of red paint , probably use some red hammerite and brush it on carefully .

it was about £140 . i cant say its made a massive difference but seems to bite a lot better and feels smoother , i bought it mainly because the clutch was coming off and instead of a cheap standard one i got one of these in the hope would last longer and give better performance ,

post-36826-1334437366_thumb.jpg

and deciede to spray up the tweeter covers , dont really like the grey they chose , and like most people have decided to change that ,

post-36826-1334437424_thumb.jpg

post-36826-1334437434_thumb.jpg

and also decided to chuck a BMC induction kit on the car which i think has made the sound of the car awesome , as well as the audi R8 oil cap

post-36826-1334437412_thumb.jpg

not going to stay this way, gonna put some metal piping in instead of the standerd pipe that comes with the kit , and also going to use a RED silicone pipe instead of the black ,

other things i am going to be doing soon are dynamatting whole car to make it sound better :) and also wanting to get the exhaust done and lowered a little , only considering maybe a 30/30 H&R kit ,

enjoy

Edited by darkartist_13

Just a bit of advice, dont waste on a 30/30 kit you wont notice a difference. Look more into something like 60/50 for example.

Pete.

I'm not really after lows , i need to stay practical , 30/30 should do me fine for what i am wanting , ride quality will be loads better with the H&R kit too over the shitty standerd ones on the car ,

i have 60/40 on my mk2 too and thats nice and low but its not for everyday ,

there is a guy near to me who sells them but I'm sure he does ebay too, really sound guy http://www.alltronix.co.uk/ thats his website

dynamat makes a massive difference to be honest , if you can afford it use that instead of the cheap crap ! i bet if you tripled up cheap junk its still not as good as dynamat !

what bulbs did you buy for the fogs? any pics of bulbs? specs?

cheers

wow that dynamat is expensive lol

how much of it did you use if you dont mind me asking?

Have used 3 sheets so far , well almost 3 , gonna buy a bulk pack though and plaster the car with it :) if applied properly its the best thing to use IMO :)

at £150 for 9 sheets  i think i may have to find a cheaper alternative

thats the original bulb next to the new LED one , the original is a H7 so just need the equivalent to that bulb . but here is the ones i have http://www.alltronix.co.uk/index.php?main_...products_id=286

5w over standard 55w is always a bonus ! 100w less power consumption!!!

well decided to get my exhaust done as it was blowing in a million places and was patched up beyond belief, went for a stainless custom system , got the guys who did my mk2 exhaust to do this one as they did an awesome job on my last ,

old back box

post-36826-1342385601_thumb.jpg

and the new shiny one ,

post-36826-1342385633_thumb.jpg

didnt get any pics of it all under the car coz I'm silly ,

but here is a shot of the pipes sitting on the back

post-36826-1342385680_thumb.jpg

also bought some new interior handles for the front as the old ones are knackered,

post-36826-1342385905.jpg

and on the card

post-36826-1342385919_thumb.jpg

also have been doing some more dynamatting

rear passengers seats underneath

post-36826-1342385983_thumb.jpg

door on front end , might squeeze some more in there but has already made so much difference might leave it

post-36826-1342385993_thumb.jpg

also have put more in the boot behind the lights and up and around the rear wheel bit behind the carpet , need to do back doors and put better speakers in them too , and do all the floor under the carpet ,

random pic of door card while it was off while i was sound deadening ,

next thing i will be doing is to lower her a little , really debating whether i want a coilover kit , or a really good lowering kit , dont want it too low and not that bothered about adjusting it so may just go with the 40/30 or a 30/30 drop to keep it practical .

put my audi pedals on

post-36826-1342386308_thumb.jpg

which look loads better and feel better under my feet too i find

shampood the car out and gave it a wet vac to get rid of all the grime in the seats

silly arty pic of the car outside while i was cleaning here

post-36826-1342386397_thumb.jpg

had the windows tinted too which make a big difference to the look imo .

well not really done a whole lot with her to be honest but done a few things so here they are ..

bought a new heat shield as the old one looked paggered and gave it a little more polishing to take some of the dulness away .

post-36826-1370032135_thumb.jpg

and here it is in the engine bay , needs a little shine up in places but not too fussed by it aha ,,

post-36826-1370032477_thumb.jpg

removed the rear polo badge to spray up black and removed the polo writing and gave the car a little clean and polish

post-36826-1370032169_thumb.jpg

post-36826-1370032179_thumb.jpg

and started making the sub box in the boot ,

removed the spare wheel and got on with fitting the walls for the box

post-36826-1370032184_thumb.jpg

post-36826-1370032188_thumb.jpg

then fibreglassed the wood in place as shown and fibreglassed the floor making it all solid and airtight on the edges , i measure the volume when creating this is needed it to be the correct Litre for the size of sub going into this ,, i then made a lid for the box and cut out the first whole for the sub, this was then glued and screwed into place making sure it was airtight again !

post-36826-1370032197_thumb.jpg

i then needed to make a template for the floor to make sure it was as snug as it could be which i used some old cardboard and taped together

post-36826-1370032201_thumb.jpg

post-36826-1370032209_thumb.jpg

this floor needs the hole making bigger as the sub is going to sit almost flush with it so it doesnt stick out !! . . so thats the next job , but that is the sub in there that i have bought which is

http://caraudiosecurity.com/jl-12w6v2-d4-12-subwoofer

that one , and have a mono block jl amp to power it which is this one

http://caraudiosecurity.com/jl-xd600-1-mon...-bass-amplifier

so should be beefy when i get it finished :D :D

more stuff to come when i have time as building up my mk2 atm too !

thanks for looking
