yep thats per piston Eric i told Guy the price as thats what VW told me lol F that ennit and the link Guy has given you is worth it as blown rings is no fun at all

The engine driving fine with 172bhp and 230nm{more than a year} without the cam comming loose ;) (or did you not mean my picture?)

It's holding up, but you should know the same applies, it's holding with very little grip. I'm not saying the heat and oil make it inevitable, but if you notice a rough metallic noise like a grinding coming from the engine then turn off immediately and check the cam sprocket teeth aren't clashing. Happened to mine, which is why i had to pin it back into place with a couple of plug welds.

actually not much :-D a good G40 charger and i had the beckler and bentler ecu from a genesis model{140 bhp} 8-) and a good ajv engine..

the boost on the dyno was 0,5 bar! because i had made it with decompression plates.

So an AFH with the AVY crank/rods/pistons is still 11.5:1 comp ratio? Winning? Haha.

Eric, it basically means that the air when the pistons at BDC gets compressed so much it ends up in an area 11.5 times smaller than it. I think, someone will correct me here haha.

What size decomp plate did you use? Is it your engine that has the modified G60 conrods fitted?

It was a 0,8mm with 2 original 16v head gasket.

No this was my first engine with all original stocks/internals.. wen it was on the dyno we saw that it was running low. (not enough fuel-pressure)

the other engine must need some KMS to run properly :-) and that runs on a G60 charger.

So with that plate and the extra HG it was the equivalent to about a 1.2mm decomp plate? (i measured a used afh HG to 0.5mm). Do you know what the standard cr of the AJV engine is?

Is it your current engine thats running the G60 rods?

Compression ratio is the ratio between the maximum volume of the engines cylinder (you use just one cylinder for the figure, not all 4) and the minimum volume,

So when the piston is at the lowest point (BDC, bottom dead centre) the cylinder volume above it is at the maximum,

then when the piston is all the way up at TDC (top dead centre) the cylinder volume is at its minimum.

As an example, when i increased my ABD engines CR, i calculated its maximum volume was 384.68636mm2 and its smallest was 35.6750mm2.

384.68636/32.6750 = 10.8

So the ratio betweent the numbers (and thus compression ratio) is 10.8:1, which matches up with VW's quotes i beleive.

To work out the maximum cylinder volume, you can multiply the bore in mm2 with the stroke of the engine, and then add on the volume of the combustion space that the piston doesnt fill...

So maximum volume equals volume swept by piston (bore x stroke) + combustion space.

Minimum volume just equals combustion space, so CR = ((Bore x stroke) + combustion space) / combust space

Hope that hasn't made it more confusing :lol:

And just to add, a higher CR is usually desireable (for NA engines) because the fuel/air mixture is being compressed/squeezed at a greater level, so you extract more heat out of the mixture, thus receiving more power at the crank from the greater heat/pressure pushing downt the piston.

I think it was 1mm i dont know exactly anymore :?

standard cr of the ajv engine is 10,5. {current engine will running with 8,3:1 CR}

it is not my current engine with the G60 rods.. that engine is on a low pit.. i have my own company and that takes allot of time :-(

Only thing i need to do is fitting the kms {Kronenburg management system} and adjust everything on the dyno!

What he's saying is that if a piston squashes the air in the cylinder to just one tenth of it's capacity when going from one end to the other, then the compression ratio is 10:1

If it leaves just a twelth of it's original size then the compression ratio is 12:1

No point in skimping on detail my furry friend 8-)

Mine was fun haha, I had to measure the head volumes with valves shut, then I measured the bore at 5 points to get the average size x stroke, factor in the compressed HG thickness and volume of the dishes in pistons, was about 10.8 IIRC

how would someone go about doing they AVY with the ecu and fusebox? could you just keep the mk3 fuse to run the basic things rather than having to swap them all over? if this makes sense
