Alpine white '86 Golf GTI.

Featured Replies

Having been on my second G40, I fancied a change hence it getting sold in bits! So;

I've always wanted a mk2 golf but never seen one that's taken my fancy as I didn't want to ruin the childhood dream with an abused/ tired one!

Having just split my last G40 'loon I had some cash and this un-abused 1986 golf gti came up 10 miles down the road from me. Was on the phone asap and few days later after gathering the troops brought it home on Feb 12th 2012! (Cheers Graham/Becky/Col) :-D

So plan is to build the golf I've always wanted! For now I've bought an ABF to go in, but whilst I'm putting this in I'm buying new parts to replace old. So that in the future the copper greased bolts will come out easily (rather than sheer or seize) for possibly a 1.8t or FSI :lol:

Anyway, pictures speak a thousand words!

Arrival!

It didn't have the badges :( (yes its parcel tape i am a tool, left a lovely brown residue!) Also I used filler with bonded resin fibreglass at the back so that in the future when I find some nice original badges I can poke the holes through, rather than welding them.

Brought the abf home in the back of my trusty focus! How does a twin engined 32V 300bhp focus sound :lol:

Have been doing wiring with the help of Rubjonny over on clubgti, absolute legend. I've essentially finished mating the CE1 loom to the ABF loom, as unfortunetly CE1 isn't plug and play with abf loom as it has the earlier fuesbox etc! Just waiting on some good weather to get it all plumbed in/ wiring in/ gear linkages etc on.

That's where I'm at! Hope you like, Cheers
