breaking c reg silver mk2 coupe s (1985)

Featured Replies

gotcha, when the rain stops ill have a go at removing it mate :)

sweet.. it is a bit of a pain.. bit of a guide..

undo the bolt and pull it out of the clamp.

if the engine is out of the car undo the the steering rack bolts and drop the rack and you should be able to get the clamp off the bottom of the column.

Id the engine is still in remove the plastic cowling round the column (is that in good condition? if So I'll have that from you too!) there is an allen key bolt on one side which needs to be removed and there is also an sheer bolt on the other. The sheer bolt will needed to be drilled/grinded off. The column should then drop and you will be able to pull it towards you enough to get the clamp off.

a bit of a pain....

.... edit... before you do anything just check that yours does have the clamp as I believe early mk2's had different steering columns as you can see in the diagram but I'm not sure how different they are!
