Bought this little gem as I had enough of owning metros. Always been a Vw fan but for some reason kept building vvc metros So I started to look around for a car to buy and I came across a mk3 polo just up the road from me, went to view it and instantly knew that I wanted it so bought it back with me :-D

First Job on the list was to bin the crummy suspension as it became annoying driving around in a bouncy castle so bought an 80/60 kit to get it low as possible. Ignore the reverse rake it soon got sorted

Then a set of weller mattigs which I liked the look of so bought those, unfortunatly they came with massive balloon tyres so changed them for some tempory 185/55/13's which didnt help the look of the car at all :/

Was sorting out the loft one day and found some old beano comics so decided to cover my door cards like a few others have done to try and lift my crappy interior. I think it came out pretty well if I do say so myself

Then came the big one. Been wanting to fit a G40 since the day I got my polo so when one came up when I actually had the funds I begged the rents to let me get it and they did, if I swore to a few terms like ' you fit this engine and then thats it no more messing with your car'...yeah like thats gonna happen

Ripped out the old 1.0 hamster wheel which is tiny once everything is removed from it but I dont know what I was expecting from a puny engine in the first place

Took me a few weekends to do as I only get sundays off and Iv never done an engine conversion before so quite impressed with myself for doing it.

Only problem I encountered was the fuel pump wouldnt prime but we sorted that out massive thanks to 'Higgo' for lending a hand to get it running.

Once that was all plumbed in and running I sent my wellers off to get refurbed and new tyres put on as my tyre decided it didnt get on with the wheel to well so decided to try and leave half way through a journey

While they were being done I also bought some coilovers as it was just to high to pull off a lower profile tyre so ordered those much to the parents dislike but oh well

Fitted a boot build as I hated opening the boot to see wires and a big speaker box ruining all the work of trying to get the car to look good so i did this

Will get some pics of it in the car when I can remember

Finally got the wheels back after rolling around on wheels from the bottom of the biscuit barrel and they make the car look a million times better. Not bad for only £100 to get them refurbed by my mates dad

Just need to sort out the wing which has pulled itself out abit on the arch some how and get the rest of the rub strip glue off.

Thats how it sits for now, just need to fit my coilovers to sort out the ride height/stance and then crack on with the other million things I want to do to it

I've not fitted the coilovers yet, as for the hub Iv not done anything at all I had it as It came from Phil J on here it all comes as one piece ready to fit except obviously for the bearings etc. Hope this helps

yeah it is a shame the silver weights do stick out a bit against the red paint :/

The reverse rake was from me putting the adjusters on the back to far down so sat lower than it should of.

haven't had much of a chance to look at it but got a day off tommorow so will have a good look then.

And its also pay day friday which I'm in desperate need of so will be ordering the bearings and top mounts as I need the coilovers on, it has to go lower :-D

Toothies are a near future plan, once pay day comes the money will be gone straight away with all the stuff Iv brought haha

Main aim is to get it running sweet then start drawing out the power

So Thursday, my day off I decided to reposition my catch tank as I didnt like where it was just looked out of place. Before mounting it I decided to try and give my engine and bay a clean. Most of the muck and dirt was from when I did the conversion I kept dumping my tools on the front slam panel so got covered in grease and general crap so as I found it embarrasing opening the bay when it was this state I decided to pull my finger out and get it done.

Started off like this

The fan cover does coming handy for the odd cheeky brew

I cleaned down the chassis legs as much as I could as obviously with it being white it really showed all the dirt on there and came up pretty well. Then cleaned along the firewall but wasnt able to get right down the back as most of the engine got in the way. Will be recieving a proper clean/respray when I pull the engine out again in winter.

Cleaning round the washer bottle I noticed that the pump was broken so for symmetry decided to remove it until the replacement part arrives :) Cleaned up the airfilter as it was drowning in crap and wire brushed the spark plugs just to help the engine a tiny bit.

I think it came out pretty well from what it was before but as Iv only got my phone to use for a camera it doesnt show to well ;/

The catch tank I decided to mount at the back which seemed a really good place to put it, originally it came it stainless steel but it didnt go with the engine at all so sprayed it matt black and I really like how its come out.

And finally today after a whole day at work praying that tommorow will be dry I got my car ready for Santa Pod

Got to try and find a way of getting the exhaust grannyfold off aswell as two of the bolts are rounded off and I want/need to get it off so I can rub it down and paint it black as the red paint that it came in is letting the engine down so much :(
