Audi a3 few probs

Hi

I brought a audi a3 r reg 98 about a month ago now and I've got a couple of problems with it already :( ok it over heats but dose take a while of sitting at 90 before the light cones on any ideas ? Also it's had trouble starting once the cars had time to cool Down it turns over fine but won't fire for a good Min or so of trying, any ideas ?
