possible scammer on forum

Featured Replies

I still stand by only paid club members and with post count of 50 or 100 + should be able to use the classfieds section this will also generate more income for the club...

As i've said to people before try to steer away from newbiees etc as there is only hassle with them it seems....

While this is a good idea at first glance you have to ask, what is £5 to someone who is going to scam people out of hundreds?

People would also see them as more trustworthy and be more likely to let theory guard down

I thonk that if you sell something there should be a feedback icon next to your avatar to tell you if the person has recently sold anything with or without any issues.

I'm not a member or have a paypall account, doesnt mean I'm going to rape you......

Always do Cash on collection its the only way for me and I've brought and sold many things....

As above i only do cash on collection or pick up myself can't be arsed with PayPal etc

All that will do is kill the classifieds. It's been tried before, it failed before. 99% of people are tightwads (me included) I'm not going to pay for a classified service, when I can find numerous other places where I can sell the stuff for free. If I want a payed for service, I like many others will stick the item on ebay.

People who get ripped off, generally do themselves no favours. If they had half a brain, or even just half a brain cell, it wouldn't be too hard to work out if the seller is genuine.

I've bought and sold loads of stuff on cp and various other forums. Never have I had any problems and the reason for this is that I have a functioning brain.

I put a warning up in his add on the mk1oc...

http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?na...asc&start=0

He has since deleted his original post and claims they are sold and made no attempt to deny or even acknowledge anything in the post I made accusing him of being a scammer

Nearly gave him £90 of my cash for some bumpers, glad I didn't!

I have only done one bank transfer in the last 3+ yrs i would imagine, that was to MaxMax, never met the lad but i figured there was enough local boys to go round his house if need be

Even if he is genuine, I wouldn't part with any money due to his attitude towards selling.

Scammer, maybe not, but still dodgy! Deleting pics to suit descriptions and such

Thats what you think :ninja:

Same with me , i've only ever done bank transfers to Phil J .

I do disagree about being a paid member, i've been a member before but i'm not one now. Surely freedom of all Polo related parts is a good thing, if only members could post up in the classifieds i'm sure the amount of gear available would drop a fair amount!

i agree somewhat that members should have to pay to sell items (certainly not to buy though) maybe £2, as a gesture. that alone will never stop scammers.

absolutely no chance there should be a forum post requirement. that has pissed me off personally when i have stripped a saxo but cant let anyone on the saxo forum know because i havnt posted random bullshit for a few weeks.

summary: you cant stop scammers with a fee or a post limit. all you can do is inform members, which is already done.

Only bank transfer I've ever done to anyone on here was to philj, I'd never met him at that point but had had more than enough wreaked up late night phone conversions with him to know i trusted him

Edition38, I've been on there for about 5 years, been to the shows and meets and never so much as had a warning on the site... But because I haven't posted loads of random shit and instead concentrated on trying to help out with questions where I can its deemed that I am not suitable to sell on the forum

That's just an excuse to get to use classfieds for free?, I've never seen it tried since 2006 unless I missed it? ...

I dont believe that can kill classfieds at all! and no way will £5 for a year's posting parts to sell be more expensive than using ebay,

Polo3 has turned unless your a paid member you cant use classfieds a while back I remember.

Agree on the brain cell part and agree I've never had a problem either.

polo3 is again free to use. making the classifieds a pay for service killed it completely, also caused a massive drop in numbers posting on other areas of the site too. You only had to donate a pound too.

club polo tried it 2 or 3 years ago, so you must have missed it, or have been a paid up member, so not noticed it.

A scammer isn't going to be put off by a small joining fee. It would be easy enough for them to set up an un-tracable account to pay for the joining fee, then they are again free to rake in the cash.

I only ever paid by bank transfer once and it was to a guy on here (he's still on here and selling quite regularly). Took me from November to Feb to get my exhaust and that was torturing the idiot with emails day in day out. He went and changed his name on here after that which i thought was odd too altho could be a coincidence. After some forum trawling I narrowed down roughly where he lived and it wasn't too far off our route to UD that year so he wasn't far off a knock on the door. Might of been a shock seeing as he thought i was in Ireland lol

Just to let you all know he Messaged me saying he can get me some GTI headlights

But luckily mclovin had Messaged me explaining about him

If I had known it was Paul I would have defiantly stayed away as I've read a huge thread about him on edition38
