Hi everyone, I'm new on the forum.

After alot of looking i finaly found a gd,clean, full service history, low mileage one that was not modified at all, 1 lady owner that traded it in at a porsche dealer for a cayene turbo!!!!!!!!!!

I did a lot of window shopping and saving coin then spending it, i made up my shopping list and started the buying.

apex coilovers

powerflex bush kit

new wishbones/ball joints

droplinks

front discs and pads

front calipers

braided brake hoses

Got everything i had on my list so the build started

start building

the coiliovers needed to slam me to the ground (apex from venom)

a new pair of droplinks cause the old ones bushes were all perished

that would be a pair of brand new wishbones, ball joints and i bushed them up with powerflex bushes

Also in the week of work to build my car i carried out a full service, removed the old air filter and fitted a pipercross pannel filter from venom, fitted a crank breather filter because the standard one had gone weak and colapsed with the heat.

next up i fitted new brake discs, pads, calipers all genuine vw parts fitted, fitted sum braided houses to reduce the brake pedal travel.

To finish of the pedals i fitted sum audi tt pedal covers from awesome gti.

Next on the list was sum wheels, the car had the standard bbs rims fitted, they were corroded and in need on a refurb so i split them and sum on the wee splined bolts rounded and the threads were damaged, sent them to a local firm in town to get threads repaired and that was a dissaster so new wheels were needed for the wee gti. After the missus saying no compmotive th monos and no schmidts were aloud i found sum bbs rm's. I wil take them thank u very much £800 delivered, happy days

these r just what we needed

7.5j fronts and 8j rears, now thats better than my original plan of refurbing the standard things.

After a trial fitting on the car the tyres were to wide and hitting my arches

so we had to change them 195/50/15 - 175/50/50

thats the fronts

that would be my rears

i had tried sum 165/50.15 on the fronts but they were to streached for my liking so they were sent bak, 200 bucks for 4 kuhmos and thats me a happy bunny.

Tomorow brings another day at the polo build, as i got it motested yesterday, my mate moosh started the detail on it aswell,

i will update tomorow after its been detailed and my other new parts hav been fitted, loads of photos to follow

Polo GTI Detail – Moosh/Bones

Hello all and thanks for looking (it’s Moosh on Bones account just for the upload of this epic), this detail has been a long time coming and we have planned what we are going to do and how we will do it for a few months now, the car has been off the road for the winter and in that time Bones has built up a stock of parts that he has just about got all fitted.

So to start with I had given the car an enhancement detail when Bones first got the car so this time it wasn’t going to need fully corrected again but because it had sat in storage all winter it did need a healthy decontamination carried out.

Let me start by saying we didn’t plan to write this one up hence the lack of before pictures showing the condition of the car after storage.

Wash Stage

Iron X the lower half from the door handles down and left to dwell, there was quite a few spots over the car so well worth it.

Rinsed.

Then followed that with Megs degreaser mixed 6:1 which was left to dwell and with a pro valet brush the shuts, rubbers, petrol flap, ariel, badges and grills were all given a scrub.

Rinsed Again.

Now because the lower half of the car showed iron particles I decided to do the bonnet, windows and tailgate, there were some further contamination spotted.

Rinsed Again.

Next up Supernatural tar on the lower half (handles down) and the back to the roof spoiler including the glass.

Rinsed Again.

(Now normally I would snowfoam using AB magifoam but we were not at my garage so I didn’t have the luxury.)

So instead I washed with 2 Bucket method using Farecla Detox to further strip any previous products off the car as Bones was rather handy with the wax and sealants so she was previously well protected.

Rinsed again.

Dried using a Dodo Juice Double Touch drying towel and brought inside for Clay.

But before clay I went over it all checking for tar spots and using Dodo Juice Tarmalade on any little spots that the SN Tar didn’t get.

I decided to use Dodo Juice Supernatural Clay with Dodo Juice Born Slippy for the lube, working in small areas to avoid as much as possible any further damage from the clay.

Back outside for a rinse and final wash.

I this time washed it using the new Limited Edition Chemical Guys/DW Bubble Gum wash – Great new shampoo but limited to a run of 120.

Rinsed again and back inside to dry.

So that was Saturday and the car was left in the garage all weekend ready for this morning.

Machine Stage

We decided that because the headlights were faded and bleached that we would take the front bumper off to fully restore the headlights using the 3M repair kit that Bones had bought, this kit is pretty severe as it uses 500 Grit wet and dry followed by 800/1200 and a final wet sand with a trizac 3000 disc. (See Photo’s) There was compound supplied which we used to bring back the head lights to a full gloss finish again. This kit is not for the faint hearted and at one point Bones was almost ordering a new headlight but we worked some magic. The head lights still show a little cloudiness but it appears to be on the inside, now that’s the headlights out of the way Bones stripped the front bumper down and began the DA work using the Chemical Guys optical Grade Kit.

I began machine polishing the car using Scholl Concepts system and after trying out S17 and A15 I settled with S3 Gold on the Blue foam pad and finished/refined using S3 Gold and the Black Waffle Pad, once Bones had finished and fitted the front bumper he worked on the bottom half of the car from the mouldings down and did the rear bumper and boot. The general condition of the paint was first class but there were some very old RDS on various panels some of which were easy to totally correct and some were simple rounded but 80% of the car was able to be corrected. Once machined and finished we wiped the entire car down with Carpro Eraser to remove all excess polish oils and any filling. Thankfully the correction had went well with only one spot repair to be re done.

Machine work over with and the car was in a sorry state again with polishing dust and general mess so it was rolled back outside for a full wash 2 BM this time using Dodo Juice Born to be Mild and 2 Drops of Dodo Juice Supernatural Shampoo for good measure, and on the rinse down particular attention was paid to the door shows, seals, lights etc to make sure it was ready for the LSP stage without needing to be washed again and then dried.

LSP Stage

Now on to the LSP stage, we decided to treat the polo to some HD Cleanse followed by Zymol Glasur, not only will this lay down some solid protection it was also chosen for the wet finish and reflective qualities that it gives.

Finishing Stage

Once the LSP was out of the way it was time for the final tart up, the engine bay was wiped down (was cleaned previously) and finished using Dodo Juice Fantastic Plastic and some Chemical Guys New look Trim Gel.

We also used the same combo on all mud flaps, mirror surrounds, front splitter and bumper grills.

We then changed the wheels as the icing on the cake and boy what a lovely cake it has turned out to be 

Ahh now fitting wheels to something lower than a snakes belly sometimes takes some genius thinking! - Bingo now everyone is going to want a pallet truck and a plank of wood! Note no sills were damaged in the fitting of these wheels) 

So that’s the Polo and it’s been a long day but well worth it I am delighted with the results, next stop on the detailing side of things the stone chips that she has gathered and some other little tweaks including glass polishing and sealant.

Thats his audi a3 parked up you can see in the polo photos outside, a3 sline on coilovers and rotiform blq's 19inch!!!! team player

Rite so no need on anything bout the detail just sum more wee bits and bobs bout the build of my polo

That would be the new coilovers, discs, pads, goodridge braided brake flexi's, and new calipers

Standard wiper blades were changed for sum vw classic fit aero blades

Rear badge carbon inserts fitted after the detail

Front fogs were laminxed and had sum yellow super bulbs fitted

Black rear veiw mirror replaced the standard horrible creamy thing

Octavia vrs roof aerial swapped for the big standard thing

That would be my new LED number plate lights and pressed plates

Freshly fixed xennons, yellows fogs and a pressed plate

Iv seen worse looking rear ends!!!!!

So what is everyones thoughts on my build????

Looking mint mate!! Good build so far I would personally get rid of the mudflaps but that is just my opinion, other than that it's pimpin!!

Which one did you buy mate? Whats the quality like?

Thanks for you are comment, i got sum vw ones pal. To be honest the cars that low and with the powerflex bushes its hard as to so i cant really comment on the quality

Thanks, ye it took me ages to get my wheels pal. I was bout 2months looking for a gd set pal. I got mine of the ebay but there was sum in the wheel sanctuary at wheel whores

Ordered sum roof rails today at work but they hav gone back order so will need to see when they arived.

I reset my camber and carried out a tracking check and adjusted it so I'm driving straight and steering wheels straight so next is my momo wheel and boss

What stereo should I put in the polo guys?

Double din, standard, make, what can u guys advise me with
