Right, a little more info. These girling 36s won't fit if you mount them the way kerrly has above. As you can see, the bracket on the caliper that the brake cabe passes through, is mounted in such a way that when the cable adators are put in place, they foul the rear beam. Also, the cable will not run under the beam and enter at a bigger angle. I'm at a loss now to get these to fit in a suiable way that isn't easier than getting a set of mk4 alloy ones, or even some girling 38s. Keeping them mounted the way I have is another option, but I'm not sure this is the best way either

Golf ally ones will shed unsprung weight from the axle that needs it the most, which is nice.

If you keep them on upside down and it works, sweet. I'm pretty sure they're just as strong with the force of rotation reversed after all.

You could use banjo brake pipes/fittings to stop them hanging down like that, but if they're protected by the wheel and not at risk of binding it, they might not be all that vulnerable?

I have considered banjo bolts, and that's still a option. It's just cost. I hav some 6n2 gti ally ones already. I was going to tart them up, but I may just fit them now. these 36s have had a full refurb though, which cost a fortune in parts

Reeee. I'm going to be going for banjo bolts to bring the hose into a better position. This will also sort the problem of the hoses being a wee bit short (last time i trust someone else's measurement). I will aim to bleed the brakes as per usual then as the bleed nipple will be on the top. I shall update with progress as and when I have the hoses fitted.
